Air Peace Boss Onyema Gifts Super Falcons ₦20 Million

The President of Air Peace Airline, Allen Onyema, has compensated the Super Falcons’ past and present teams with the sum of ₦20 million.

This is contained in a statement signed by Ademola Olajire, Director of Communications at the Nigeria Football Federation, on Wednesday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

Onyema presented the cheques to the various teams after the finals of the maiden edition of the Aisha Buhari Invitational Tournament on Tuesday.

South Africa’s Banyana Banyana beat the Super Falcons 4-2 in the final match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos. 

The statement read that Onyema was not dismayed by the defeat the Super Falcons suffered in the hands of South Africa’s Banyana Banyana.

“He presented the sum of ₦10 million to the Super Falcons’ class of 1999 that reached the quarter-finals of the FIFA Women’s Cup in USA who were honoured by the NFF at a special Awards ceremony in Lagos on Monday. He also gifted the present bunch the sum of ₦10 million,” the statement read.

Onyema’s company, Air Peace, is the official carrier of Nigeria national teams. He recently doled out ₦20 million to motivate the Super Eagles to win their FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 qualifier against Cape Verde in Mindelo.

  A  new experimental brain implantation device, Blindsight, designed to restore vision has been awarded the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) ‘breakthrough device’ designation. A  federal lawmaker representing the Esan North-East/Esan South-East Federal Constituency in Edo State, Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie has reportedly escaped an assassination attempt. Okojie, the husband of the Nollywood movie Star, Mercy Johnson, was reportedly attacked by armed men suspected to be political thugs at his residence in Uromi on Friday morning.   The  Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced one Courage Ikpaka to two years imprisonment for duping a United States citizen, Mrs Yvelte M. Thompson of $53,000 by impersonating Nigerian musician, Chinedu Okoli popularly known as Flavour N’abania. Justice   Dehinde Dipeolu convicted Ikpaka on Tuesday following his guilty plea to a two-count charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). Prosecution counsel, Suleiman Suleiman, led EFCC investigator Azibagiri Dan Ekpar in evidence against the defendant. Nigerian Nurse Who Left Her Infant To Die While On Duty Caught At Airport Trying To Flee UK, Jailed For Three Years

  A Nigerian nurse, identified as Ruth Auta has been sentenced to three years in jail for causing the death of her ten-week-old baby. The nurse was sentenced by Bolton Crown Court in the UK. It was gathered that the Nigerian woman left the deceased baby Joshua Akerele in her nurse's accommodation for eight hours so she could work her shift on December 20, 2022. The nurse was said to be a single mother, aged 28. When she returned to her room, she found Joshua lifeless in his cot and dialled 999, telling operators her son was not breathing. Akerele was later confirmed dead an hour later with tests showing he may have 'overheated' due to the layers of clothing and bedding he was wrapped in.
