  A  24-year-old girl, Jessica Anthony, has confessed that she, alongside her friend identified as Ada, contacted armed robbers to rob and steal her boyfriend’s gold. Jessica is cooling her heels in the custody of the Delta State Police Command with her friend in Asaba. She said if the armed robbers had succeeded in robbing and selling the gold, they would have given the money to her. “I  asked the bad guys to go there to collect his gold. They would have sold it and given the money to me,” Jessica said. She said she asked the armed robbers to rob her boyfriend’s house because she needed money to offset her sister’s bills. Court Affirms Abure’s Sack, Orders INEC To Recognize Nenadi Usman-Led National Caretaker Committee

The Federal High Court in Abuja has reportedly upheld the removal of Julius Abure as the national chairman of the Labour Party (LP). The Court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to recognize the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee as the party’s lawful leadership. The development was disclosed by human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, in a post on X, where he said he was present at the Federal High Court when the judgment was delivered in a related case. Effiong stated that Justice Lifu delivering judgment on Wednesday, upheld the Nenadi Usman-led committee as the only valid and lawful leadership of the Labour Party (LP), reaffirming that Abure’s tenure had elapsed in line with an earlier Supreme Court judgment. Pastor Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Abuse Of 2 Underage Sisters In Edo State

  Edo State Government has confirmed the arrest of the founder of Rollo Life of Christ Brethren Ministry, Bishop Gideon Osazee, over allegations of sexual abuse involving two biological sisters who are minors. It  was gathered that the two girls are aged 13 and 17. Authorities disclosed that, beyond the sisters, four other young females have also come forward with similar allegations against the cleric. Osazee was taken into custody by officials of the state government following days of surveillance aimed at effecting his arrest. Assemblies Of God Church Superintendent Bans Pastors From Marrying Non-Members

The leadership of the Assemblies of God Church has issued a directive barring its pastors from marrying women who are not members of the denomination. The directive was announced by the General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Rev. Abel Amadi, during the 2026 Leaders’ Retreat held at Evangel Camp, Okpoto, in Ebonyi State. Addressing church leaders at the retreat, Rev. Amadi instructed district presbyteries to strictly enforce the policy, emphasizing that no pastor should be granted approval to marry outside the denomination. “No pastor should be allowed to marry outside the Assemblies of God. Presbytery, you must take note of this and ensure it is not allowed,”  he stated. The Senegalese government has revoked offshore exploration rights held by Atlas Oranto Petroleum, a privately owned upstream oil and gas firm founded by Nigerian energy entrepreneur Arthur Eze, reinforcing a tougher regulatory approach toward long-stalled licences. The g overnment revoked the Cayar Offshore Shallow exploration licence after determining that Atlas Oranto Petroleum, the holder, had failed to provide the required bank guarantees and carried out only minimal exploration work since the block was awarded in 2008, despite multiple extensions. The block, covering approximately 3,600 square kilometres north of the Dakar peninsula, is considered oil-prone but underexplored, with several leads identified through seismic surveys but no wells drilled to date.   Justice  Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja, has struck out Meta and X as defendants in the amended Cyberbullying charges brought against Human Rights activist, Omoyele Sowore for calling President Bola Ahmed Tinubu a ‘criminal’. The  Judge on Monday struck out names of the two foreign defendants when Sowore was re-arraigned on Monday and following the request of counsel to the Department of the State Service (DSS) lawyer, Akinlolu Kehinde (SAN) withdrawing them from the new charge. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), have arrested a long-wanted drug kingpin, Lekan Jimoh, also known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” 12 years after his alleged involvement in the killing of three NDLEA officers. Jimoh was arrested on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Owode town, Ogun State, following intelligence-led operations by tactical teams of the agency. A search of his hideout led to the recovery of 69 kilograms of skunk, a strain of cannabis. The Lagos State Police Command has clarified the reasons behind the temporary suspension of its investigation into multiple rape and related allegations against Pastor Chris Okafor, Founder and General Overseer of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, widely known as the Grace Nation International or Liberation City. Earlier, the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered an investigation and directed Mr. Okafor to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Panti. He later disclosed that the case had been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further action. Providing an update, the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said the probe was halted after the complainants invited by police failed to appear.
