“The Nigerian Police Have Refused To Release Speed Darlington Despite The Explicit Order Of The Court” - Deji Adeyanju

Nigerian lawyer and human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju has disclosed that the police have refused to grant singer, Speed Darlington, bail despite the order given by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday, December 23.

The singer has been in police detention since November 27, when he was re-arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri, Imo State for allegedly jumping bail. He was initially arrested in October following a petition written against him by his colleague Burna Boy.

Findings show that the singer was granted unconditional bail and that the only thing needed to do is for his legal team to get the ruling to the police legal department for them to minute on it and then send it to the Force Investigation Department FID where the singer is being detained, for compliance.

The singer's legal team has since sent the court order to the police department but is yet to get any response or compliance.

Today December 27, makes it a month since Speed was re-arrested by the police.

Reacting, Deji Adeyanju stated that this was the highest form of disrespect to the judiciary.
