Raphael Dwamena, who plays for KF Egnatia, has collapsed and died.

It was gathered that the 28-year-old passed away after suffering from a fatal heart attack.

The former Ghanaian international was playing against Partizani Tirana on Saturday, when he collapsed in the 23rd minute of the game.

The match was abandoned as medical staff tried to resuscitate Dwamena.

He was eventually rushed to the nearest hospital in Kavaja, but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival after suffering another heart attack.

Dwamena first became aware of a problem with his heart when a defect was discovered in 2017.

He had an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) fitted in October 2021, after collapsing during an Austrian Cup match.
