[VIDEOS]: At Least 60 Killed, Many Injured As Bridge Collapses Week After Renovation In India
The Indian state of Gujarat has said that more than 60 people were killed in a bridge collapse on Sunday. The government minister Brijesh Merja, according Times of India told the media that the newly renovated bridge collapsed around 6:30pm on Sunday. “More than 60 people have died,” the official, who was at the scene of the tragedy, was quoted as saying. He earlier revealed that some people died after being rescued. According to reports, dozens of people have been injured and a rescue operation is ongoing. The Home Minister of Gujarat, Harsh Sanghavi, said the tragedy occurred at around 6:30pm local time on Sunday, when 150 people were on the bridge.
