  Former Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi has revealed his intention to contest in the 2027 general elections. Obi made the announcement during a discussion on X Spaces on Sunday evening. The former Anambra State Governor emphasized that he will not accept a role as a running mate to any candidate. He explained that his experience and political journey were not meant to culminate in serving as vice president, signaling his commitment to seeking the top office. “I  am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice President,” Obi said. “I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President. “Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.”

Nigerian Man Who Just Returned From Abroad Killed By His Childhood Friend During Housewarming Party In Edo State

The Edo State Police Command has arrested 43-year-old Amadin Williams for the alleged murder of his childhood friend, Eghosa Osas, in Oben community, Ikpoba-Okah Local Government Area. The spokesperson of the command, Eno Ikoedem, who confirmed the arrest on Sunday, December 28, 2025 said that the suspect would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.  According to sources, the deceased had returned from abroad with his family to celebrate Christmas. He was reportedly attacked and killed during a housewarming party. “The New Tax Laws Will Push Domestic Airfares To ₦1.7 Million” — Air Peace CEO, Allen Onyema

Nigerians may be in for tougher times as Air Peace Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Allen Onyema, has cautioned that the country’s domestic aviation sector could slide into a major crisis if the newly introduced tax laws take effect on January 1, 2025, without a proper review. Onyema issued the warning during an interview with the newsmen on Sunday. He blamed excessive taxes, levies and charges on airlines for high airfares. He noted that domestic airfares could rise further to as much as ₦1.7 million and force local carriers out of business within months, with ripple effects on passengers, banks and the wider economy. He dismissed claims that airlines are profiteering, explaining that most ticket revenue is lost to statutory deductions. “People talk as if airlines are making a killing. It’s not true,”  he said.   Nollywood filmmaker and former Managing Director of Daar Communications, Don Pedro Obaseki, has broken his silence following an incident in which he was stripped and dragged to the palace of the Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II. It was gathered that  Mr Obaseki, a renowned Nigerian filmmaker, was attacked and stripped on Sunday by youths allegedly loyal to the Benin Traditional Council at Uwa Primary School, where he went to play football. Following airstrikes against ISIS terrorists in Sokoto State, the United States has now shifted its focus to the Sambisa Forest. They are now currently carrying out intelligence and surveillance operations in the large expanse of land within Borno State. Top security analyst, Brant Philip, revealed this via his X account and shared flight tracking data to back up his claims. The tracking data showed a Gulfstream V aircraft flying over Borno state. Philip, in his tweet, claimed that the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), is the target of the latest intelligence operations. NFF Clears Air On FIFA’s Response Regarding DR Congo Players’ Eligibility Dispute Against Nigeria

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has clarified that it is yet to receive a response from FIFA concerning its protest over the eligibility of some Democratic Republic of Congo players who featured in the 2026 World Cup African playoff against the Super Eagles weeks ago. NFF, however, categorically stated that the situation is still under consideration. This statement comes in response to media claims that FIFA had dismissed Nigeria’s appeal following the Super Eagles’ defeat to DR Congo in the play-off final.
