"NFF Still Owes Sacked Super Eagles Coach Gernot Rohr" - NFF President, Pinnick

The President of Nigerian Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, has disclosed that the sacked Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is still being owed some unpaid salaries.

He also stated that the Federation took the decision to fire the 68-year-old Franco-German coach on Sunday to prevent a “disaster” waiting to happen.

“It wasn’t an individual decision; it was a collective decision from the committee,” Pinnick said on Monday when he featured as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily breakfast programme.

“We didn’t want a disaster to happen before taking the decision,” he added.

When asked whether the NFF owed Rohr some unpaid salaries, the NFF President said, “We are owing him a couple of monies and they will be cleared off in five months.”

The NFF had terminated Rohr's contract as the Super Eagles coach on Sunday after months of fireworks between the federation and the Franco-German coach who managed the first team for the past 64 months.

In his place, the football federation appointed Augustine Eguavoen, currently its Technical Director, as the Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles on an interim basis.

Before his sacking, Rohr had demanded that the NFF paid him his outstanding salaries of two months and an additional four months pay before he quit the team.

Immigration Officer Bags 7-Year Jail Term Over Passport Fraud

  The  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured the conviction of Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service for committing travel passport fraud. ICPC  arraigned the convict before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the Penal Code Act. Counsel to ICPC, Dr Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, in the course of the trial, led evidence before the court on how Adeyinka defrauded Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularising the latter’s international passport. Adeyinka,  after receiving the sum of N100,000 from Ojeffia to regularise the said passport, reneged on their agreement. Veteran Nollywood Actress, Stella Ikwuegbu Is Dead

Nollywood has been plunged into mourning as veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbu passed away on Sunday.  A cloud of sorrow has therefore enveloped the Nigerian film industry as fellow actors, filmmakers, and fans grapple with the devastating news and reflect on Ikwuegbu’s immense contributions to Nollywood over the years.
