Ekiti State Court Sentences Teenager To Death By Hanging

An Ekiti State High Court in Ado Ekiti has sentenced 18-year-old
Tajudeen Ogunleye and 21-year-old Tosin Oluwafemi, to death by hanging
for murder, conspiracy and unlawful possession of a human skull.

The defendants were accused of committing the crimes on February 14,
2017, at Ifaki Ekiti in the Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state
by conspiring to murder one Joshua Ojo contrary to sections 516, 316,
319 and 329(a) of the Criminal Code, Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State,
2012.

In her judgment, Justice Oluwatoyin Abodunde sentenced each of them to
death for the offence of murder; seven years’ imprisonment for
conspiracy; and five years for unlawful possession of the human skull.

The judge said, “Every evil or good action in life attracts
consequences; in the accused persons’ case, their act has grave
consequences. “The first and second accused persons are hereby sentenced to death by hanging and may the Lord have mercy on your souls.”

During the trial, the prosecution counsel, Eniola Arogundade, called
five witnesses and tendered exhibits, including the statements of the
accused persons and photographs of one of the accused with the skull.

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has confirmed his upcoming wedding to his partner, Chioma Rowland. According to reports on Tuesday Chioma and Davido’s traditional wedding is reportedly scheduled to take place in Lagos on June 25, 2024. Immigration Officer Bags 7-Year Jail Term Over Passport Fraud

  The  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured the conviction of Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service for committing travel passport fraud. ICPC  arraigned the convict before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the Penal Code Act. Counsel to ICPC, Dr Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, in the course of the trial, led evidence before the court on how Adeyinka defrauded Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularising the latter’s international passport. Veteran Nollywood Actress, Stella Ikwuegbu Is Dead

Nollywood has been plunged into mourning as veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbu passed away on Sunday.  A cloud of sorrow has therefore enveloped the Nigerian film industry as fellow actors, filmmakers, and fans grapple with the devastating news and reflect on Ikwuegbu’s immense contributions to Nollywood over the years.
