Mike Tyson Reveals He Spends $40,000 Monthly On Marijuana
The former boxer has revealed he spends tens of thousands of dollars a month on cannabis for personal use – with the folks on his ranch in California smoking 10 tonnes of the drug every month.
The 53-year-old was joined by Jim Jones on his aptly named podcast Hotboxin', with Jones saying it made sense for him to invest in his own marijuana business, Saucey, because he smokes the drug often.
Mike asked co-host Eben Britton: ‘What do we smoke a month? Is it $40,000 (£33,000) a month? It’s 40, yeah, $40,000 a month.’ Eben replied: ‘We smoke 10 tons of weed at the ranch a month. Ain’t that crazy?’
Tyson is known to be fond of weed, and put his money where his mouth was when he founded Tyson Holistic Holdings in 2016. The company aims to grow high-quality strains of THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (Cannabidiol) while ‘implementing cutting-edge technology to advance the research on the health benefits of marijuana’.
Mike previously said of his company to Cannabis Tech Today: ‘I thought about how much good I could do by helping people with cannabis. It was a no brainer.’ And growing his business even further, Tyson bought a 407-acre ranch in which he plans to create a cannabis resort which will include a festival venue, a hotel and a lazy river. The former athlete hopes to dedicate part of the ranch to agriculture and part to the Tyson Cultivation School, where cannabis breeders can learn the best growing techniques.
Piers Morgan visited Mike to explore his new venture and tried drugs for the first time with the star – and while the Good Morning Britain host may not be getting into the business himself, he was pretty impressed. Piers wrote in his Mail Online column: ‘Whatever your side of the debate about marijuana – I view it as less dangerous than alcohol or cigarettes – I’ve never seen a happier, calmer Mike Tyson.’
