Everton Deducted 10 Points By Premier League

  The Premier League has deducted 10 points from Everton, following an investigation into a breach of profit and sustainability rules. The Goodison Park club insist they are “shocked and disappointed” by the punishment and will appeal. An official club statement read: “Both the harshness and severity of the sanction imposed by the Commission are neither a fair nor a reasonable reflection of the evidence submitted. The deduction is the largest in the history of the Premier League. It takes immediate effect, plunging Sean Dyche’s team into the relegation zone.

  The Lagos State Police Command on Friday, November 17, 2023, released controversial singer, Azeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley; and his associate, Balogun Samson, popularly known as Sammy Larry, after the duo met their bail conditions. This was made known by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin on Friday in a terse statement saying, “Naira Marley and Sammy Larry, having met their bail conditions, have been released.” Hundeyin, a Superintendent of Police, made this known on Friday afternoon after the artiste and the socialite perfected their bail conditions granted by a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court. The court, on Monday, November 6, had granted both of them bail in the sum of N20 million with three responsible sureties. “As  part of the bail conditions, the defendants are to surrender their passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department (Panti, Yaba, Lagos),” the court ruled. Malawian President, Lazarus Chakwera Imposes Travel Ban On Himself, Cabinet To Cut Public Spending

  Malawian president, Lazarus Chakwera, has imposed a travel ban on himself and his government to cut public spending and help the country's ailing economy. It was gathered that the Malawian president announced the move after the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved a $175-million loan for the southern African nation. “ I am imposing a freeze on all publicly funded international trips for public officers at all levels until the end of the financial year in March,” Chakwera said in a televised address late on Wednesday. According to the report, It means the former evangelical preacher will skip a scheduled attendance at the COP28 climate summit later this month in the UAE. Chakwera also mandated that all cabinet members currently abroad on publicly funded trips promptly return home and ordered a 50-percent reduction in fuel allowances for senior government officials. “No Government Official Among Suspects Arrested For Brutalizing NLC President, Joe Ajaero In Owerri” – Imo State Commissioner

  The Imo State Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, says officials of the state government were not among suspects arrested in connection with an assault on the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero. The NLC leadership had embarked on strike on Tuesday and accused the Imo State Government of sending some of its officials to supervise the brutalization of Joe Ajaero. The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, on Wednesday, said some suspects were arrested over the assault on Ajaero in Imo State on November 1, 2023. Speaking to newsmen on Thursday, Emelumba said that the suspects arrested were not officials of the state government. The commissioner said, “I will say emphatically that the government has no hands in that attack. The rapper, who disclosed on an exclusive preview of Martha Stewart’s iHeartRadio podcast in 2022 that he started smoking at the age of 18, stated thoughtful consideration and discussions with his family as reasons for this decision. Making the announcement on his X account on Thursday, the 52-year-old artiste emphasized the importance of respecting his privacy during this time. Imo Elders, Joe Ajaero Meet Over NLC Leader’s Rift With State Government

  Members of the Imo Elders council have paid a scheduled visit to the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Joe Ajaero in Abuja to intervene in the ongoing impasse between the state government and the NLC. This is as the nationwide strike declared by the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC) continued into its second day. Speaking to journalists in Owerri, the Imo state capital, upon arrival from Abuja, the Chairman of the Imo State Elders Council, Cletus Iluomuanya, said the meeting with Joe Ajaero was successful.  Reacting to the ongoing strike, he said there was light at the end of the tunnel, while maintaining that Ajaero is an Imo son and would surely respect Imo elders. 

NLC, TUC Suspend Nationwide Strike

  The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended the nationwide strike they embarked on Tuesday.  The suspension of the strike came after leaders of the two unions met with representatives of the federal government in a meeting on Wednesday at the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA). At the end of the meeting, the labour unions agreed to consult with their members on the next step concerning the nationwide strike. The Federal Government was represented at the meeting by Simon Lalong, Minister of Labour and Employment; Nkeiruka Onyeajeocha, Minister of State For Labour and Employment, and Nuhu Ribadu, the NSA. The Unions were represented by Festus Usifo, President of TUC;  Emmanuel Ugboaja, General Secretary of NLC and other labour leaders.
