Sierra Leone Police Nab Nigerian, Benjamin Nnanyereugo Wanted For Murder Of 21-Year-Old Student In Oyo State

  A Nigerian, Best Nnanyereugo Benjamin, who was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force for alleged murder of Miss Augusta Oseodion Onuwabhagbe, an undergraduate of Lead City University, Ibadan, Oyo State has been arrested in Sierra Leone. It was gathered that the suspect, Benjamin who was declared wanted by the Lagos State Police Command on October 10, 2023 following the killing of his alleged girlfriend on July 13, 2023 and disappeared was arrested at a club in Freetown by Sierra Leonean police on Friday. It was also gathered that the suspect is currently being detained at the Freetown while awaiting extradition to Nigeria to face his crime.   The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation has fully covered the medical expenses of the renowned Nollywood actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu. This was made known in a statement shared on the foundation’s Facebook page on Friday. The statement said,    “The Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation is honoured to have extended support to Mr John Okafor also known as Mr. Ibu, a renowned comedic icon who has graced our screens and brought joy and laughter to countless homes over the past four decades. “ When we learned of his recent health challenges and the financial burdens associated with his medical treatment, we felt a deep sense of responsibility to assist in any way we could. We promptly paid off his entire medical expenses as of Wednesday. “We encourage everyone who can to come forward and assist in any capacity, whether it’s through financial contributions, moral support, or prayers. “We wish him a swift and complete recovery”.

Armed Robbers Raid 4 Banks In Benue State

  No fewer than six people were killed on Friday when dare-devil armed robbers invaded four banks in Otukpo town in Benue State after disarming the police attached to the banks. It was gathered that the three police officers, one vigilante and a councilor of Otukpo Ward 2 who was transacting business in one of the affected banks were among those killed. The robbers were said to have first attacked the police station opposite the banks and disarmed all the operatives on duty before moving into the bank halls where they operated unhindered. It was gathered that the robbers arrived at the banks at 3:30pm and robbed the banks simultaneously. The affected banks are; Stanbic bank, United Bank for Africa (UBA), Zenith Bank and First Bank. Residents however claimed that the robbers drove in two Hilux vehicles and one smaller car to carry out the robbery which lasted over an hour. The robbers were seen in a viral video with guns while leaving the scene.

Supreme Court Fixes Monday To Hear Atiku’s Appeal Against President Tinubu

The Supreme Court has fixed Monday, October 23, 2023, for hearing of an appeal filed by Atiku Abubakar, challenging the judgement of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, which upheld the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC), candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It was gathered that Atiku Abubakar had pleaded with the Supreme Court to jettison technicality and grant his application for leave to tender fresh and additional evidence to support his claim that Tinubu submitted a forged document to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to contest the February 25 presidential election. Atiku predicated his plea on the grounds that presenting forged documents by any candidate, especially by a candidate for the highest office in the land, is a very grave constitutional issue that must not be encouraged. President Tinubu Makes U-turn, Orders The Withdrawal Of 24-Year-Old Kashim’s Nomination As FERMA Chairman

In a surprise move on Thursday, President Bola Tinubu, directed the withdrawal of the nomination of Engr Imam Kashim Imam. Imam was earlier appointed to serve as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA). A statement by Ajuri Ngelale, Media Aide to the President, announced the withdrawal of Imam with immediate effect. Ajuri noted that all other appointments to the board and executive management team of FERMA are not affected by this directive. Recall that there had been backlash on the Federal Government for appointing Imam, believed to be 24 years old, into the board of FERMA. There were no specific reasons the presidency ordered the withdrawal of the nomination.

  Joseph Aloba, the father of the late Nigerian musician, Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, aka Mohbad, has explained the reasons he felt the Deoxyribonucleic acid, popularly known as DNA, of his deceased son’s child, Liam, must be done in his presence. Aloba mentioned the need to clear the heated controversy among Nigerians about the paternity of the child and other surrounding issues between the former Marlian singer and his wife.
