  The new lead pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy Odukoya says he will continue his acting career even as the new leader of the church. It was gathered that Jimmy, a Nollywood actor was named the new lead pastor and chairman of the Board of Trustees, following the passing of his father and founder of the church, Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, on August 7. Speaking with BBC News Pidgin, Jimmy stated he has no plan to dump his acting career. His words:  “When I started, people said I couldn’t be a pastor and an actor together. They said the church and the world wouldn’t accept me. If God sends you somewhere, he will clear the path for you. “I was there for six years in an industry that is hard to break into. Kodac Black, while mourning the late Nigerian singer, in an Instagram l ive session with fans, said he just came across Mohbad’s social media page a few days before the unfortunate event. He said, “R.I.P to Mohbad. Kodak you were his neighborhood hero till he passing. Damn! “What’s so crazy right now is I just ran across this n*gga’s page this week-few days ago- “Sleep well wherever you are, man.” In a similar move, Lil Durk paid homage to the late Nigerian singer via his Instagram story and X handle on Tuesday. Meta To Launch WhatsApp Business Owners’ Verification Badge

  Meta, a global tech firm, plans to launch a verification badge for WhatsApp businesses soon. Meta’s VP of business messaging, Nikila Srinivasan, confirmed the development on Wednesday. The firm said it will soon begin to make it possible for businesses to receive verification from Meta to help users know they are chatting with the right business. Accordingly, to become ‘Meta verified’, businesses must demonstrate their authenticity to Meta and, in return, receive a verified badge, enhanced account support, and impersonation protection. The firm, through its Vice President, said, “For businesses interested in signing up, Meta Verified will come with additional premium features including the ability to create a custom WhatsApp page that is easily discoverable via a web search, and multi-device support so multiple employees can respond to customers. MOHBAD: British Music Channel, MTV Base Bans Marlian Music

  Popular British music channel, MTV Base has placed a ban on Marlian music following the death of a Nigerian singer, Mohbad. Marlian Music is a record label owned by Nigerian musician, Naira Marley who was accused of having a hand in Mohbad’s sudden death. It was gathered that the former signee of Marlian Records, Mohbad, died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, under mysterious  circumstances. Following the controversial death of the singer, some national radio stations have placed a “Not to Be Broadcast” (NTTB) ban on all the music under the Records Label. Joining the growing list of music outlets that have banned Marlian music, a staff member of the MTV music channel and popular TV host, Ehizojie Okoeguale, aka DadaBoy Ehiz, made the announcement on Wednesday. In a post shared on his X, Okoeguale wrote: “MTVbase dropped everything Marlian. Kudos to dem.”

  Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba popularly known as Mohbad, has explained why he buried his son quickly. Mohbad’s death was announced on September 12 and he was laid to rest the following day. In a recent interview shared by Temilola Sobola (@TemilolaSobola) via Instagram on Tuesday, Aloba claimed he was only respecting Yoruba culture by burying the artiste quickly. According to him, it is customary not to delay burial if both parents are still alive. “In Yoruba land, his corpse is not the kind to be kept when both of his parents are still alive. “That land where Mohbad was buried is his only land, that is the only land I know him to have owned. “ Truly he gave me the land to build my church because we had both agreed to build the church there and since that’s the only land I knew him to have,” Aloba said. Peter Obi Files 51 Grounds Of Appeal Against PEPC Judgment At Supreme Court

  The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has filed 51 grounds of appeal before the Supreme Court seeking the nullification of Judgment of the Presidential Election Petition court and the election of President Bola Tinubu. In his notice of appeal, Obi said the Presidential Election Petitions Court erred in law and thereby reached a wrong conclusion when it dismissed the petition he lodged to challenge the outcome of the presidential election. He maintained that the five-member panel of the Tribunal led by Justice Haruna Tsammani, carried out a  miscarriage of justice against him, when it held that he did not specify polling units where irregularities occurred during the election. Gunmen Kill Eight Operatives Of Nigerian Police, Army, NSCDC In Imo State

The Imo State Police Command has vowed to fish out the killers of the security operatives who were on Tuesday murdered in Umualumaku, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state. Gunmen on Tuesday unleashed mayhem in Umualumaku community, Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, killing about eight security operatives comprising soldiers, policemen and men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps. The incident which happened at about 9.30am caused panic among residents of the area. It was gathered that members of the Joint Task Force, who were in two Hilux vans were killed and set ablaze in the patrol vehicles by their attackers. None of them survived as they were burnt inside their operational vehicles.
