UNIZIK Staff Murdered By Househelp Buried In Anambra State

The staff of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) Awka, Chima Anolue, who was brutally murdered by a househelp on July 15, has been buried. His remains were buried last Tuesday in Igbo Ukwu community, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. His burial attracted mourners from the university community, who described the deceased as a cool-headed fellow. The 35-year-old was attacked with a pestle after an argument with his househelp, Ifesinachi, an indigene of Ebonyi State who was brought in by his parents to assist with domestic chores. The mother of the deceased, Dr Ifeyinwa Anolue, who is the secretary of the College of Postgraduate Studies, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, provided an insight into the July 15 tragedy. 12 Yahoo Boys Arrested For Burying Newborn Baby Boy Alive In Rivers State

12 suspected internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, have been arrested for allegedly burying a newborn baby alive in Rivers State. The suspects were arrested at the Andoni waterfront in Eagle Island, Port Harcourt, the state capital, on Wednesday morning. The chairman of the Port Harcourt Local Government Authority Area Security Watch, Victor Ohaji, who disclosed the unfortunate development to reporters, said the arrest followed the efforts of the police and the security outfit. He told newsmen that a tip-off had alerted them to the nefarious activities of the suspects, and it was not difficult to locate a place that showed signs of being freshly dug and covered at the waterfront. “ When we dug the place, we saw a newborn baby, a bouncing baby boy. Nigeria's Ex-Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke Charged With Bribery By UK Police

  The United Kingdom National Crime Agency (NCA) on Tuesday said that Nigeria’s former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been charged with bribery offences. Alison-Madueke has been on bail since first being arrested in London in October 2015.  The NCA said that she will appear in court in the British capital on October 2 this year.  It was gathered that soon after her arrest, her family’s lawyer said she would strongly contest corruption allegations that have been hanging on her during and after her time as a minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan. The head of the NCA’s international corruption unit, Andy Kelly, reportedly said in a statement that, “We suspect Diezani Alison-Madueke abused her power in Nigeria and accepted financial rewards for awarding multi-million pound contracts.” According to the NCA, Alison-Madueke allegedly benefited from at least £100,000 ($127,000) in cash, chauffeur-driven cars, flights on private jets, luxu...

Robbers Attack POS Shop, Kill Owner’s Parents In Imo State

  The Imo State Police Command, on Monday, confirmed the killing of a couple by armed robbers, while attempting to rob a point-of-sale (POS) shop along Egbu Road in Owerri, the state capital. The Imo State Police spokesman, Henry Okoye said that the command received a distress call last Sunday night that robbers had attacked the shop owned by “a young man”. The assailants reportedly dispossessed the owner of the POS shop of his belongings and cash, in the process shooting the parents of the shop owner who came out to intervene before making away with the loot. According to Okoye, the shop owner’s father, a retired police officer, and his mother were rushed to a nearby hospital but died. While commiserating with the family of the deceased, the Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Barde, ordered an investigation into the matter and activated the anti-robbery squad of the command to go after the culprits.

BBNAIJA ALL STARS: Organizers Scrap Jury, Fans To Determine Housemates To Be Evicted

From this weekend on, there will no longer be an eviction jury on the Big Brother Naija All Stars reality show. This decision was taken less than 24 hours after Kiddwaya was sent home by a panel made up of Saskay, Vee, and Elozonam. Kiddwaya became the third contestant on the show to be evicted by a jury, following Princess and Uriel, who were sent home by different panels of ex-BBNaija housemates. The jury system of eviction has been greeted with controversy and criticism in the three weeks since it was used. Following this development, the organizers of the reality show will revert to the eviction of housemates based on votes from fans.

“Not Seeing Davido Won’t Discourage Me” — Fan Who Cycled From Benue To Lagos

Emmanuel Myam, aka Emmiwuks, a fan of popular singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he will not be discouraged if he eventually does not meet the singer after riding a bicycle for 15 days from Benue State to Lagos to see him. He eventually arrived Lagos on Friday, August 18, 2023, and was hosted by the Tiv community in the state. While on the trip, Davido had told the young man to turn back, saying he was not around at the moment. He then asked the fan to send his account number.
