Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp has been named the League Managers’ Association Premier League Manager of the Year, it was announced on Tuesday. The Reds won both the English League Cup and FA Cup, beating Chelsea in penalty shoot-outs at Wembley on both occasions. The race for Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen, has taken another dimension after Italian champions AC Milan joined in the battle to sign the striker. Osimhen has been linked with Manchester United and Newcastle United in the past few weeks and recent reports suggest that Arsenal have also tabled a significant bid for the 23-year-old. Osimhen missed a chunk of last season through injuries and other health-related issues but managed to score 14 goals with six assists in what was his second season with the Italian outfit. Nigerian singer, Olubankole Wellington popularly known as Banky W was on  Monday declared winner of the PDP primaries for Eti-Osa constituency House of Representatives ticket for the 2023 general elections.  Banky W had a landslide victory, polling 28 out of 31 votes cast by delegates at the primaries. Recall  that the delegates consisted of 31 adhoc members of the PDP  and one national delegate. Banky W contested  against a legal practitioner, Mr Sam Aiboni who polled three votes.  The Returning Officer, Mr Ayodele Kazeem, who declared the results, described the process as peaceful and transparent. Banky W told NAN that the election was a free and fair one, he stated that he had won the election by the grace of God and the will of the people. A ploy to cater for the health needs of Nigerian citizens considered to be most vulnerable to health challenges, may see the Federal Government injecting a new tax on phone calls in the country, soon. This is coming despite recent increment by telecommunication companies for the price of their services as a result of harsh economic operating conditions. The new telecom tax which is coming in the equivalent of a minimum of one kobo per second for phone calls is meant to boost sources of funds required to finance free healthcare for the vulnerable group in Nigeria. The information was contained in the National Health Insurance Authority Bill 2021 signed by President Muhammadu Buhari recently. The act includes a provision under Section 26 subsection 1c which states that the source of money for the Vulnerable Group Fund includes telecommunications tax, not less than one kobo per second of GSM calls. The Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Gboko, the Most Reverend William Avenya, has suspended a priest, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, from public ministry for getting involved in partisan politics. The priest is a Benue State governorship contender on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC. His suspension was contained in a letter to all  Priests, Religious and Laity, Catholic Diocese of Gboko, dated May 20, 2023 and signed by the Bishop. It is titled, ‘Suspension of Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia from Sacred Ministry.’ Part of the letter read:  “I write to communicate to you the suspension of my priest, Revd. Fr. Hyacinth lormem Alia from public ministry after series of admonitions to him. “The Mother Church does not allow her clerics to get involved in partisan politics on their own. Benito, the stepson of popular actress, Funke Akindele-Bello has alleged that she and his dad, JJC Skillz, have cheated on each other in their marriage. He made the revelation in an Instagram Live video on Friday. Benito said, “Funke accuses everyone of dating my dad but your beloved had cheated on my dad. My dad cheated too. “They do not sleep in the same room. They have not slept in the same room for two years.” Recall that Benito had also alleged that Funke Akindele’s marriage was troubled. However, JJC Skillz debunked reports of troubled marriage as he praised his wife. The couple tied the knot almost six years now and have twin sons.

  Governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has announced a N10 million reward for anyone that has valuable information to lead to the immediate arrest of the perpetrators of Hon. Okechukwu Okoye’s death. The Governor expressed shock and deep sadness over the gruesome murder of Okoye, member representing Aguata II Constituency at the State House of Assembly. Recall that Okoye was abducted by unknown gunmen sometime last week. Okoye’s severed head was found on Saturday without his body at Nnobi in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State. Gov Soludo, in a statement signed by his press secretary, Christian Aburime condoling with the kinsmen of Isuofia, said that those responsible for his murder are probably the same criminal gang that attacked him and killed three policemen at Isuofia two years ago.
