The National Films and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) on Friday publicly burnt over 30,000 seized illicit movies and video works worth N100 million in  Lagos .  Mr Adedayo Thomas, Executive Director of the board, among other stakeholders in the movie industry, conducted the exercise at NFVCB Office at Alagbon, Ikoyi .  Thomas said that the operation would be a continuous exercise until piracy was completely curbed in the country. He said that most of the seized materials were pornographic and other obnoxious materials illegally imported into the country.  According to him, the board is strongly determined to stamp out the distribution of illicit movies to safeguard the future of the nation.  “Our collaboration across board has led to massive seizure of pornographic films and other unwholesome video works by our Lagos zonal office.  “That is why we are here to carry out the symbolic burning of the seized items worth N100m.  “We have done this in ...

A popular traditional medicine expert, Alhaji Fatai Yusuf aka Oko Oloyun, has been shot dead. According to the Oyo state police command spokesperson, Gbenga Fadeyi, the deceased, who was the founder of Oko-Oloyun Worldwide and De-Fayus International, was killed around 4:30 p.m. on the road while traveling to Iseyin, Oyo State from Lagos state. ''Gunmen attacked his vehicle on the Eruwa-Igboora Road in Ibarapa Central; they shot at his vehicle and he was hit by a bullet. The man’s corpse has been deposited in the Igbo-Ora General Hospital.” Fadeyi said Until his death, Oko Oloyun was the manufacturer of popular Yoyo Bitters and Fijk Flusher among other herbal medicines.

Queen of Soul and international music star, Bukola Elemide, popularly known as Asa has revealed how she was once duped by Yahoo boys.  Speaking in a recent interview with Cool FM’s program #TheRoadShow, she claimed that the Yahoo boys made a mess of her by emptying her bank account.  She said “Yahoo Boys emptied my bank account, but we won’t go into that,” Asa has also identified with Naira Marley’s movement and she is no ashamed of being called a Marlian.  “I think I’m a Marlian. The manager to Nigerian veteran singer, Majek Fashek has revealed how Olamide assisted the singer financially when he was sick. In a recent interview, his manger, Umenka Uzoma revealed that Olamide was the only artiste that reached out to him when Majek was sick. According to him, Olamide paid the medical bills and made him vow to keep it a secret. “He called me up in England and he said, Bros, sorry oh, I wan support Baba, don’t discuss this with anybody and he said I must not mention this.
