Late Nollywood Actor, Amaechi Muonagor Buried In Anambra State

 


The late Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, was on Friday buried in grand style at his hometown, Ugamuma village, Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The legendary actor was buried amid tears from family members, relatives, and the Nollywood family.

The actor died on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at the age of 67 years, after suffering from protracted kidney-related issues, diabetes, and stroke.

Before his death, the deceased was known for his mastery of interpreting roles in movies and endeared himself to audiences with his versatility in both comical and epic movies.


The burial ceremony commenced on Thursday, June 20, 2024, with a service of songs at his residence by 6 p.m., followed by his interment on Friday after his body departed the Crown Hospital Mortuary.


A former governor of Anambra State and the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Don Onyenji; and state and national executives of Actors Guild of Nigeria, among others, were present to mourn the late Nollywood icon.


Obi, who lamented the death of the icon, urged the bereaved family to take heart even as he prayed to God for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

Onyenji, while mourning the late icon, described Nollywood: “This is an industry for those who are creative, everyone should try to work hard to promote the ideal in the film industry.


“This is an industry for people who are creative. We as government are here to also mourn the Nollywood legend who has played his role and brought up scores in the industry.”


The National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Chief Emeka Rollas, who was represented by a veteran actor, Chief Steve Eboh, urged the bereaved family to take heart, adding that God, in His infinite mercy, will give them the fortitude to bear the loss.


In her speech, the state chairman of AGN, Mrs Anyaegbunam Chinyere Esther, said, “We lost somebody who was very precious to us, somebody people look up to as a father in the industry. He mentored so many of us.

“We urge the bereaved family of the deceased to take heart, and God, in His infinite mercy, will grant them the heart with which to bear the irreparable loss.”


Among those present at the burial were the National Vice President South-East, Anigbo Clement, (a.k.a. AB Cowboy, Uwaezeoke) and Bob-Manuel Udokwu from Ogidi, among others.


A thanksgiving service will be held at St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Ugamuma Obosi, on Sunday, June 23, 2024.
