Enugu Man Kills Mother, Sister And Buries Them In Shallow Grave Behind Their House

The Enugu State Police Command says it arrested a young man who allegedly killed his mother and buried her body behind their house in Umuagu Inyi town in Oji River Local Government of the state.

Daniel Ndukwe, spokesperson for the state police command, told BBC Igbo that they had started to investigate the crime committed by this man.

Reports identified the man as Somadina Orji and his mother as Mrs Charity Orji.

The President General of Umuagu Inyi, Mr. Anoliefo, told BBC Igbo that the incident happened on Sunday night, December 3, 2023.

“It was last Sunday night that a young man killed his mother and buried her body in the back of the house near where they bathe.

“It was Monday morning when a villager saw blood in the back of the house where the young man and his mother lived, he screamed and called the security forces.

“When people gathered, the young man was arrested and started asking him where the blood came from. He said it was the blood of his mother whom he killed at night.

“When he was asked where his body was, he took them to the back of the house where he buried his mother's body. Security forces and people forced him to carry his mother's body."

Somadina also reportedly confessed to killing his sister, Miss Ukamaka Orji earlier this year.

The President General of all the communities under Oji River, Ejike Ilo Tasie, said he found out that the man who killed his mother had taken a drug.

He said that they would begin to identify all those who sell drugs in any form to get them arrested.
