Earthquake With Moderate Magnitude Of 4.0 Hits Accra, Ghana


A moderate earthquake was felt in some parts of Accra in Ghana at around 11pm on Wednesday, June 24.


According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake reached magnitude 4.0, making it one of the strongest earthquakes in Ghana in years.

 

The tremor was reportedly felt three times in the space of 10 minutes, creating panic among residents in Accra. It was also captured in a CCTV in someone's house. 


Some of the areas the tremor was felt included Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Kaneshie, Tesano, Dansoman, Dunkanaa, Lapaz, Achimota, Santa Maria, Adenta, Weija, Madina, Kwabenya, East Legon, Nsawam, Koforidua, Swedru, Dodowa, Tema among others.

 

Back in 2019, Ghana experienced two earth tremors and one in 2018. These tremors were recorded in Accra, the capital.
