  Details have emerged on how the late Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, died. This comes hours after reports of Alex’s death came as a rude shock to some of his industry colleagues and fans. Reacting to the public’s questions about the deceased’s sudden death, Nollywood filmmaker, Stanley Ajemba Chibueze, popularly known as Stanley Ontop revealed that Alex Ekubo had secretly been battling stage 4 liver cancer since 2024.   Nollywood Actor, Alex Ekubo has passed away, according to an instagram post by fellow actor, Godwin Nnadiekwe. He was 40 years old. In a post shared on Instagram, Nnadiekwe wrote, “I’m struggling to find the words. This news has truly broken me. Nollywood has lost a rare soul, and I’m lost for words because this wasn’t the plan, Alex Ekubo.” He further added, “To think you already prepared your will — it’s a heartbreak I can’t quite describe.   Former Real Madrid and  Spain defender, Sergio Ramos is reportedly on the cusp of acquiring his boyhood club, Sevilla, alongside investment group Five Eleven Capital, Spanish media outlets reported on Tuesday. The proposed deal, valued at approximately 400 million euros (£347 million), would see the consortium take an 80 per cent stake, with shares estimated at 3,500 euros each, according to El Pais.   Popular Nigerian  TV host, Frank Edoho has confirmed that his second marriage to Sandra Onyenucheya has ended. Edoho, who is famous for hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, shared a statement on his Instagram page. He explained that he and his wife have actually been separated for about two years and are now in court for a divorce. The broadcaster said he decided to keep the news quiet for a long time to handle the situation with dignity. He told his followers that he has found peace and is now moving on with his life. “I have lived through it privately. I am well, I have moved on in peace, and I am now focused on my life,” he stated. Edoho also admitted that having two marriages end in divorce has been difficult, but he thanked his fans for their support and prayers.   The  Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has retained 150 as the cut-off mark for admission into universities for the 2026/27 academic session. JAMB announced this during its policy meeting in Abuja on Monday, where it said the decision followed a vote of vice-chancellors available at the meeting. It said the cut-off for colleges of nursing is 150, while for polytechnics, it was 100 of the 400 obtainable marks. The scores, known as National Minimum Tolerable UTME Scores, indicate that no tertiary institution is allowed to admit candidates who score below the agreed benchmarks. But schools are generally permitted to set higher cut-offs for applicants seeking admission. Last year, the cut-off mark for admission into universities was pegged at 150, a move which raised concerns among Nigerians and prompted outcry among observers who argued it was too low for admission seekers.   Two Miami-Dade police officers have filed a defamation lawsuit against Hollywood stars, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon over their portrayal in the Netflix crime drama, The Rip. The officers, Jason Smith and Jonathan Santana, claim the film has caused serious damage to their personal and professional reputations. According to the lawsuit, the movie implies that they engaged in unethical behaviour and misconduct during a real-life police operation in June 2016. Although the officers are not named, the legal complaint argues that the film’s characters are clearly based on them. The movie tells the story of two officers who discover $20 million in cartel cash, which leads to corruption within the department. Emmanuel Odiniya, the father of the  Big Brother Naija All Stars winner, Ilebaye Precious Odiniya, popularly known as Ilebaye, has broken his silence over the viral altercation involving his daughter, claiming he was provoked before allegedly assaulting her during a family confrontation.   Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo has announced the commencement of a crackdown on fake pastors and prophets performing miracles in the state. He  disclosed that those arrested have been detained and that they were confessing. Soludo challenged pastors and prophets claiming to be genuine to visit Amaku Hospital to perform miracles. The  governor made the disclosure while speaking at St. Patrick’s Cathedral during the All Knights Day of the Catholic Diocese of Awka, on Sunday.   The FCT Police Command has disclosed that the two rescued brothers of the Big Brother Naija Season 8 winner, Ilebaye Precious Odiniya, are safe in Police Custody after they were rescued following an altercation between Ilebaye and her father at the weekend.   The  cruise ship hit with a deadly hantavirus outbreak arrived in Spain’s Canary Islands on Sunday, where most of the nearly 150 people on board will be evacuated and flown home after weeks at sea. The Dutch-flagged MV Hondius arrived at the Spanish port of Granadilla escorted by a Civil Guard vessel. It was confirmed by data from the maritime tracking service VesselFinder. Passengers and some of the crew are expected to evacuate before the ship, where an outbreak of hantavirus led to the deaths of three people, continues on its way to the Netherlands.   The occupants of a cruise ship struck by a deadly hantavirus outbreak that has sparked international concern began leaving the vessel in Spain’s Canary Islands on Sunday, May 10, 2026. “The disembarkation of the passengers and the Spanish crew member has started” from the MV Hondius at Tenerife, the health ministry said on Telegram. It was gathered that five people were seen on a  small boat leaving the ship and heading for the port. According to the health minister, passengers will be divided into groups by nationality and ferried to the coast in small boats. Charter planes will be on the tarmac at the local airport, ready to repatriate them to their home countries.
