  There was panic in the early hours of Saturday after a fire outbreak involving a generator nearly escalated into a major incident at the new residence of popular TikTok content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller. In a post shared via his Instagram handle, he uploaded a video of the incident with the caption, “This happened early this morning. “My new generator almost burnt down my new house, but God saved us, it took us over 30 minutes to off the fire. All I can say is God saved us.” In  the now-viral clip, Peller was heard repeatedly shouting “Jesus!” as visible flames erupted from the generator, sparking fear among occupants of the house. Amid the confusion, he also instructed those around him to quickly pour water on the generator in an effort to contain the blaze before it could spread to other parts of the building.   The  Department of State Services (DSS) has brought a three-count criminal charge against former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, over alleged cybercrime and threats to national security. It was gathered that  El-Rufai will be arraigned on February 25, 2026 before the Federal High Court in Abuja. Justice Joyce Abdulmalik fixed the date after the Chief Judge of the court, Justice John Tsoho, assigned the case to her. The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/99/2026, was instituted by the DSS, also known as the Nigerian secret police. According to court documents, the security agency accused El-Rufai of unlawfully intercepting the telephone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu. The DSS alleged that on February 13, while appearing as a guest on Arise TV’s Prime Time Programme in Abuja, the former governor admitted that he and his associates intercepted the NSA’s phone communications.   Ahead of the 2027 presidential election, supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, have established an organization to drive grassroots mobilization. The organization tagged ‘Village Boys Movement’ was launched as a rival platform to counter the ‘City Boys Movement’ organized by President Bola Tinubu’s son, Seyi Tinubu, for the President’s re-election. Convener of the Village Boys Movement, Maazị Tochukwu Ezeoke, who addressed supporters in Abuja on Thursday, named himself a ‘Village Headmaster’. According to him, the movement  “represents a Nigeria that works before it earns and earns before it spends”.   Nigerian TikToker, Mirabel has spoken out regarding the rape allegation she previously made in a viral video. Recall that the content creator, with the username @mirab351 had, alleged that she was sexually assaulted by an unknown man at her residence in Ogun State. She claimed that the alleged rapist inflicted an injury on her private part with a blade. Her story generated reactions across social media, causing the Nigeria Police to swing into action. Some netizens, however, expressed scepticism on the factuality of the allegation, stating that the stories were not adding up. But the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Thursday said that the command was investigating the matter. An Akwa Ibom High Court has sentenced pastor Prince Emmanuel Umoh to death by hanging for the murder of Gabriel Bassey Edward, a final-year Engineering student at the University of Uyo.   Popular Nigerian content creator, Kolu has been reportedly arrested in the United Kingdom. Kolu was allegedly arrested on Wednesday following an altercation with the UK immigration police. Nigerian musician, Candy Bleakz, who made this known in a video on her Instagram page, disclosed that the content creator traveled to the UK under her sponsorship.   The Ogun State Police Command has said that the alleged suspect in the sexual assault case involving Nigerian TikToker Mirabel (@mirab351) will be arrested and prosecuted if her claims are verified, while warning that she could face legal consequences if the allegations are proven false. The Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, made this known during a recent interview with Channels Television while addressing public concerns surrounding the ongoing investigation. Preliminary autopsy findings for the two crew members discovered dead at a movie production site in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, have ruled out food poisoning as the cause of death.   Suspected armed bandits have killed Oba Kehinde Falodun, the Alagamo of Agamo community, in a violent attack on his palace in Akure North Local Government Area, Ondo State. He revealed that it was his children who first noticed the fake news before he did, and quickly informed him. The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has confirmed that the sexual assault allegation involving TikTok content creator, Mirabel has been referred to the relevant authorities in Ogun State. In a statement released on Wednesday, the agency disclosed that it had established contact with a close associate of the survivor, who confirmed that she had been discharged from hospital care. “Following our earlier statement and the public response, we successfully established communication with a close friend of the survivor, who confirmed that she has been discharged from the hospital,”  the agency said. He said “inappropriate, defamatory, hateful, and insulting content” was undermining “human dignity, public morality, the honour of citizens, social cohesion, the stability of the Republic’s institutions, and national security”.
