Gunmen Attack Abia State Governor’s Advance Team In Imo State

  Three staff members of Abia State Governor, Alex Otti were attacked by unidentified gunmen on Tuesday morning near Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, the capital of Imo State. The incident, which occurred between Umuowa and Ihite junction, a short distance from the airport, happened while the team was en route to the facility for official duties. It was gathered that the attackers, suspected to be fleeing gunmen, opened fire on the vehicle conveying the aides as they approached the airport corridor. Otti’s Chief Press Secretary, Njoku Ukoha, confirmed the attack in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the affected officials were part of an advance team and not the governor’s convoy. Update Emerge From Northern Governors Security Meeting

An update has emerged from the Monday, December 1 meeting involving the nineteen northern governors and first-class emirs and chiefs under the Northern Traditional Rulers Council, held at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House in Kaduna State. Police Officers Recover Gold Valued At ₦23.6 Million Buried 15 Years Ago By Boko Haram Attack Victim In Borno State

Borno State Police Command have recovered gold valued at ₦23.6 million, which a woman reportedly buried in Mallamfatori, Abadam Local Government Area, 15 years ago while fleeing a Boko Haram attack. According to the woman, she hid the gold in the sand before fleeing the town. She recently returned and reported the matter to the police, asking for help to find the items. ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command, said officers searched the area based on her description. He said they recovered  “22cc of gold valued at about ₦20 million” and “a gold bracelet with a chain worth ₦3.6 million.” The police said the case shows how insurgency forced many residents to abandon their belongings while escaping violence. Northern Governors And Traditional Rulers Hold Emergency Security Meeting In Kaduna

  Amid worsening insecurity across Northern Nigeria, governors of the 19 northern states and leading traditional rulers on Monday convened an emergency meeting in Kaduna to deliberate on urgent solutions to the region’s escalating security crisis. The closed-door session, hosted by Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, brought together members of the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), led by its chairman, Governor Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State. Also in attendance were prominent traditional rulers under the Northern Traditional Leaders Council, headed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III. FA To Punish Arsenal After 1-1 Draw With Chelsea

  The  Football Association (FA), is set to punish Arsenal on disciplinary grounds after their 1-1 draw with Chelsea. The  Gunners came away from a feisty encounter at Stamford Bridge with one point. Arsenal had six players booked by referee Anthony Taylor, with three cautions coming in the first 30 minutes. Because  of this, the club will face a £25,000 fine under the FA’s rules for accumulating six or more yellow cards in one game. It’s not the first time Arsenal have faced this. They were fined the same amount back in February 2024 after their match against Liverpool. The  game also saw Chelsea midfielder, Moises Caicedo, pick up a straight red card in the first half.

  “ Anicet Ekane died this morning in Yaounde, where he had been transferred after his arrest at the end of October in Douala,” Valentin Dongmo of the African Movement for the New Independence of Cameroon (Manidem) party said. The exact circumstances of the 74-year-old’s death remain unclear. The left-wing, nationalist politician was arrested in Douala on October 24, on the eve of the publication of presidential election results that returned 92-year-old Paula Biya to power for an eighth mandate. Ekane was close to fellow opposition figure Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who contested Biya’s 43-year grip on power in the October 12 election. “Anicet Ekane was arrested in Douala and then transferred to Yaounde, where he was held at the State Defence Secretariat (SED).   Veteran Nigerian rapper, Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja popularly known as Eedris Abdulkareem has revealed that his Facebook and Instagram accounts have been deactivated. The activist said it happened shortly after he released his new track, Open Letter to Donald Trump. He said on Sunday that he has been unable to log into both accounts since the song came out. Checks also showed that the pages could no longer be opened. The rapper, known for his strong views on politics and governance, did not state how long the suspension might last or whether Meta gave him any notice.   Paul Okoye (left), Jude Okoye (middle) and Peter Okoye  On  Friday, November 28, 2025, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) informed a Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja that it has no evidence to back Peter Okoye’s claim that his brothers, Jude and Paul Okoye of the former music group P-Square, fraudulently withdrew $800,000. Peter had petitioned the EFCC in 2024, claiming that Jude diverted funds belonging to P-Square, operated 47 undeclared bank accounts, and manipulated the shareholding structure of Northside Entertainment Ltd., a company jointly owned by the brothers. The petition led to charges being filed against Jude over alleged financial mismanagement of the P-Square brand. At the resumed cross-examination on Friday, the EFCC counsel, Mohammed Bashir, told Justice Rahman Oshodi that the commission could not tender evidence supporting the alleged $800,000 withdrawal.
