Nollywood  actress, Sharon Okpamen, has reportedly passed on after childbirth. The Nollywood community has been thrown into mourning since the news of her demise broke out on the internet. Announcing the unfortunate incident via his verified Instagram page on Sunday, popular movie producer, Stanley Ontop said Sharon tragically passed on after spending days in a coma following childbirth. Woman Arrested In Nasarawa For Concealing 124 Rounds Of Ammunition In Palm Oil Gallon

  Operatives of the Nasarawa State Police Command, on Friday, arrested a woman, Hauwa Sani, for allegedly concealing 124 rounds of anti-craft ammunition in a gallon of palm oil. The Command's Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel revealed this in a statement post on X.com on Saturday. According to him, the state police operatives also arrested the suspect with a cash sum of N78,500 and a mobile phone while trying to smuggle the ammunition to Katsina state. The  Commissioner of Police, Shehu Nadada has ordered the transfer of the suspect and exhibit to the Force Intelligence Department, Force Headquarters in Abuja for further investigation. Telegram CEO Pavel Durov Arrested At Airport In France

Pavel  Durov, the billionaire founder and CEO of Telegram, was reportedly detained at Bourget Airport near Paris on Saturday evening, according to French news outlets TF1 and BFM TV. Pavel Durov, who was travelling on his private jet from Azerbaijan, was arrested under a French warrant related to a preliminary police investigation into Telegram’s alleged role in facilitating criminal activities. Telegram did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. The French Interior Ministry and police had no comment. TF1 said Durov had been travelling from Azerbaijan and was arrested at around 20:00 (18:00 GMT).   The Owerri club confirmed the death of the coach, while several players have been hospitalised. “With sadness in our heart and total submission to the will of God, Heartland FC announce the death of Christian Power Obi, who died on Friday 23 rd  August, 2024, from a road accident enroute Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, to participate in the TICO/SELECT Ifeanyi Ekwueme Pre-season Tournament,” announced a statement by Heartland. Coach Obi won promotion for Heartland when he led the club to win the NNL playoffs in Asaba, Delta State, in the 2022-2023 season. Unfortunately, he was also in charge when the team were relegated from the NPFL this past season. MOHBAD: Court Orders Substituted Service On Naira Marley And Sam Larry

A  Coroner’s Court in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State has ordered substituted service on key witnesses in the ongoing inquest into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba popularly known as Mohbad These include Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley; Samson Eletu aka Sam Larry; Mohbad’s sister-in-law, Karimot Ogunbayo; Boluwatife Adeyemo aka Darosha and Mohbad’s lawyer, Oluwasanmi Falade. The nurse who was said to have treated the deceased during the period, Feyisayo Ogedengbe, and the driver who drove him to the hospital, Fidelis Esanbor, were also on the list. Magistrate T. A. Sotobi granted the application by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to serve a witness summons on additional witnesses through a reputable national newspaper and social media. “Nutrition Supplements Stolen In Sokoto, Cartons Filled With Stones, Other Objects To Hide Theft” – UNICEF

  During a quarterly policymakers' meeting in Sokoto on Wednesday, UNICEF's Chief of Field Office for Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states, Michael Juma, denounced the theft of nutrition supplements in some Sokoto communities. Juma  revealed that cartons of nutrition supplements were found to be tampered with, filled with stones and other objects to conceal the theft. He further alleged that these diverted supplements were then sold in local markets, depriving intended beneficiaries of critical nutrition aid. Juma emphasized the need for heightened vigilance among community members and healthcare stakeholders to prevent the diversion of these critical supplies, ensuring they reach intended beneficiaries. Nigerian Electricity Workers Move To Shut Down National Grid Over Police Harassment Of NLC President, Joe Ajaero

  The National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) in Nigeria have vowed to shut down the National Grid, should the Nigeria Labour Congress President, Joe Ajaero get arrested by the Nigerian police. This  position was communicated by General Secretary of the National Union of Electricity Employees, Dominic Igwebike. In  a related development, the National Union of Postal and Telecommunications Employees, also vowed to shut down telecommunications services if the NLC President is arrested by the Nigerian Police.  Mary Nwosu, General Secretary of the Union stated this in a separate communique issued to it members. Tenant Remanded For Allegedly Defiling Landlord’s Daughter In Oyo State

The  Chief Magistrate of the Iyaganku Family Court in Ibadan Oyo State, Mrs Olabisi Ogunkanmi, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a tenant, Kareem Mojeed, for allegedly defiling his landlord’s seven-year-old daughter. The court ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Centre, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions. Mojeed whose address was not given was brought before the court on a count of defilement preferred against him by the police. Ogunkanmi, who did not take Mojeed’s plea, ordered that the case file be duplicated and sent to the DPP for advice. She  however, adjourned the case till October 14, 2024, for the DPP’s legal advice. Earlier,  the Prosecutor, Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that Mojeed committed the offence on July 21 at 5.00 p.m. Adedeji said the incident took place in the Ebedi area of Ibadan, in Oyo state. NLC Lawyers Write To Inspector General Of Police, Request New Date For Ajaero’s Interview

  The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, has explained why he would not honour the police invitation on Tuesday, 20th of August, 2024. This was  disclosed in a letter from by lawyers representing the NLC and its President, Ajaero dated August 20, 2024. The letter from Falana & Falana’s Chambers was addressed to the Inspector General of Police and signed by Samuel Ogala Esq. for the Principal Partner. It stated that Comrade Ajaero would not be able to attend the scheduled interview on Tuesday due to prior commitments. Instead, he proposed an alternative date of Wednesday, August 29, 2024. Furthermore, the NLC requested the police to provide the details and nature of the allegations levelled against Comrade Ajaero, citing Section 36 of the Nigerian Constitution, which guarantees the right to a fair hearing.   The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) President, Joe Ajaero, has been summoned by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Intelligence Response Team (IRT), over allegations of “criminal conspiracy, terrorism financing, treasonable felony, subversion, and cybercrime.” The  invitation, detailed in an official letter, requires Ajaero to appear for an interview on Tuesday, 20th August 2024, at the IRT Complex in Guzape District, Abuja. According to the letter, the investigation has identified Ajaero as a person of interest in the case.  “You are therefore invited to interview the undersigned on Tuesday 20th Aug, 2024 by 10:00hrs prompt,” the letter stated.
