US Olympic Jack Hatton Dies At 24

Jack Hatton, one of Team USA’s rising stars in judo and a hopeful for the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team, has died. Hatton had just turned 24 on Sept. 20. In August, Hatton competed at both the world championships in the Pan American Games, making it to the bronze-medal round in the latter event. He was considered one of the top judoka on Team USA. 
The New York native trained at Pedro’s Judo Center in Wakefield, Massachusetts, under two-time Olympic medalist Jimmy Pedro. The center posted a tribute to Hatton on social media Wednesday in announcing his death. “Along with being a top US Judo athlete, Jack was kind-hearted, caring and an all-around great person,” the post read. “He was a true role model for students at our dojo and judoka all over the country. He will be deeply missed by all of us at Pedro's Judo Center and the rest of the judo world.”
Hatton started judo at age 4. He got the opportunity to be a training partner at the Olympic Games Rio 2016, something he called an inspiring moment in his career. Hatton scored the first grand prix medal of his career in 2017, and that same year added two gold medals in Pan American Open competition. His grand prix silver medal in Antalya, Turkey, in 2018 was his best international performance. Hatton also spent time coaching at Pedro’s Judo Center while pursuing a business administration and management degree from DeVry University.

Davido Confirms Upcoming Wedding With Chioma Rowland

Nigerian singer, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, has confirmed his upcoming wedding to his partner, Chioma Rowland. According to reports on Tuesday Chioma and Davido’s traditional wedding is reportedly scheduled to take place in Lagos on June 25, 2024. Confirming the news in a video shared by his long time associate, UK-based Nigerian Pastor Tobi Adeboyega on Instagram on Tuesday, the excited groom to be invited his friends to join in the celebration.   Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested fourteen suspected vote-buyers and intercepted N11m cash in the off-cycle governorship elections.  “ Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested 14 (Fourteen) suspected vote buyers in Otueke, Adawari playgrounds in Bayelsa State and at various polling units in Imo and Kogi States,” the anti-corruption agency said in a late Saturday statement. “ They were arrested on Saturday, November 11, 2023, in intelligence-driven operations that commenced several days before the ongoing governorship elections in the three states.” It  also intercepted N11m cash in Bayelsa and Imo states. “Also, a total sum of N11,040,000 (Eleven Million, Forty Thousand Naira only) comprising N9,310,000 (Nine Million, Three Hundred and Ten Thousand Naira) intercepted from suspected vote buyers and sellers in Bayelsa and N1,730,000 (One Million, Seven Hundred and Thirty Thousand Naira) intercepted fro

Immigration Officer Bags 7-Year Jail Term Over Passport Fraud

  The  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured the conviction of Quadri Ismail Adeyinka, a staff of the Nigeria Immigration Service for committing travel passport fraud. ICPC  arraigned the convict before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the Penal Code Act. Counsel to ICPC, Dr Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, in the course of the trial, led evidence before the court on how Adeyinka defrauded Ovie Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularising the latter’s international passport. Adeyinka,  after receiving the sum of N100,000 from Ojeffia to regularise the said passport, reneged on their agreement. Veteran Nollywood Actress, Stella Ikwuegbu Is Dead

Nollywood has been plunged into mourning as veteran actress Stella Ikwuegbu passed away on Sunday.  A cloud of sorrow has therefore enveloped the Nigerian film industry as fellow actors, filmmakers, and fans grapple with the devastating news and reflect on Ikwuegbu’s immense contributions to Nollywood over the years. Movie producer Stanley Nwoko, also known as Stanley Ontop, announced on his Instagram page that the veteran actress has passed away.  According to his post, she died on Sunday, June 16, 2024.  He said, “Popular Nollywood actress/veteran Mrs stella ikwuegbu is dead. “The veteran Actress left this world today after battling with Leg cancer.
