  Enugu State Police Command has confirmed the death of a young man during a failed fortification. It was gathered that the n ews went viral of a young man whose father took to a native doctor for fortification, but he died one hour after he was buried alive. In a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday night, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, said the suspects have been arrested. According to him, “ The Enugu State Police Command is making the public aware of the recent occurrence and handling of two separate murder cases. “In the first case, a native doctor, one Enuwa Odugu “m”, aged 48, and Uwakwe Eze “m”, aged 67, were arrested for conspiracy and murder of Eze’s 26-year-old son, one Chikwado Celestine Eze. “The incident is alleged to have occurred when Uwakwe Eze took his son to the native doctor’s shrine for rituals intended to fortify him with charms.   Kano Hisbah has  retracted an earlier report that accused the Jigawa State’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara of immoral act. A Kano State Hisbah Board official, Malam Aliyu Dakata retracted the report.   The allegation which dented the image of Sankara, has now been removed, clearing his name of any inappropriate behaviour with a married woman, Tasleem Baba Nabegu.   The accusations led to the Commissioner’s suspension by the Jigawa State Governor.   Dakata gave the clarification in a recent interview, stating that Sankara was not involved in any immoral act.   “When we arrived at the scene, we found Tasleem in her car making a phone call, while Sankara was standing in the compound of a building under construction that belongs to him. There was no evidence of any illicit relationship,”  Dakata stated. Controversial Nigerian crossdresser, Idris Olanrewaju Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky, is currently in detention at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Alagbon, Lagos State, where he spent the night in a cell at the police facility. A source, who confirmed the development said further directives were being awaited regarding Okuneye’s case, adding that he was taken to the FCID for safekeeping following his arrest by officials of the Nigeria Immigration Service during his attempt to exit the country through the Seme border. The source said, “Bobrisky was brought to the FCID, Alagbon, around 10 p.m. on Monday.   The  Kano State Hisbah Board has declared Auwal Danladi Sankara, the suspended Commissioner for Special Duties in Jigawa, wanted over allegations of adultery. The Commander General of the board, Aminu Daurawa, revealed this during a press briefing in Kano on Monday, stating that Sankara was allegedly caught in an unfinished building with a married woman, following intelligence reports. Daurawa explained that the accusations against Sankara came from the woman’s husband, Nasiru Bulama, who had filed multiple complaints, accusing the commissioner of engaging in an illicit relationship with his wife, Tasleem Nabegu, the mother of their two children. “We attempted to resolve the issue amicably by inviting both families. However, only the husband attended, while the commissioner refused to respond and later fled after being granted bail by Hisbah,” Daurawa said, adding that the case had since been taken to court.   A  radio presenter, Chinonso Ubah, popularly known as Nonso Nkwa, has been arrested by the Imo State Police Command over allegations bordering on cyberstalking, character defamation and inflammatory statements. Confirming the arrest, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye informed that the presenter was arrested by the Operatives of the Command on October 20, 2024, following a written petition from a concerned citizen regarding viral videos, where the presenter allegedly engaged in Character defamation, spreading misinformation and inflammatory statements against him. He was apprehended near Teachers’ House Owerri-Port Harcourt Road.   A  panel setup by the Federal Government has dismissed claims by controversial activist, Verydarkman that the crossdresser, Idris Okuneye popularly known as Bobrisky slept outside the prison during his six-month jail term. According to the panel report on Monday, there is no evidence showing that Bobrisky served his sentence outside the prison.   The Executive Director and founder of Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action, Uju Agomoh, disclosed this while reading the phase one report of the panel at the Ministry of Interior.   Bobrisky was released from prison on August 5 after she was sentenced to six months on April 12 for naira mutilation.   Popular activist, VeryDarkMan had accused Bobrisky of spending his jail term in a lodge and not the Kirikiri prison due to the influence of a godfather.   VeryDarkMan also released an audio of Bobrisky alleging to have bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), with N15 million t...

The footballer was involved in the car accident last night after leading his team to a 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, October 19.   Tragedy  unfolded in Nibo, Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday, as a violent attack by masked gunmen resulted in multiple fatalities during the Onwa Asaa festival, a traditional community celebration. The assailants, reportedly driving a black Lexus SUV, stormed an eatery in the community and opened fire indiscriminately, leaving several people dead. At the time of reporting, at least 10 people had lost their lives in the attack. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with festival-goers fleeing for safety amidst the gunfire. “It felt like a war zone. The gunmen just stormed the place and started shooting everywhere.   OrderPaper, an  online publication focused on Nigeria’s National Assembly, has criticized the Department of State Services (DSS) for its recent invasion of the home of one of its staff members, Edna Ulaeto, and her subsequent arrest. The media outlet in a statement issued on Friday described how operatives from the DSS forcibly took Ulaeto from her home, although the location was not disclosed. While it remains unclear whether she is a reporter or not, OrderPaper said it believes the incident may be linked to a story it published regarding a supposed invasion of the National Assembly.  The OrderPaper, which in the statement expressed bewilderment at why Ulaeto was specifically targeted, said that on October 18, 2024, armed individuals claiming to be DSS officers stormed Ulaeto's residence, abducting her without explanation.   The two key  stakeholders of the ruling Labour Party (LP) in Abia State have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen. It was gathered that the heavily armed gunmen invaded a Labour Party meeting in a hotel in Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state. The masked men reportedly claimed they were acting on orders “from above” without giving further explanation. Those kidnapped include the Deputy National Chairman, Ceekay Igara and the Acting State Chairman, Prince G.O Ndubueze. It was also gathered that Prince G.O Ndubueze was forcefully whisked away in an unmarked vehicle, a development that has since raised concerns.   The  Actors’ Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has announced the indefinite suspension of actress Halima Abubakar after a thorough investigation. AGN, in a statement on Friday, said their probe revealed that Halima is allegedly behind slanderous news about actors posted online. The Guild also claimed that the movie star is mainly responsible for “news of extramarital affairs linked with highly placed individuals in society and Nollywood stars”.   Martins Vincent Otse,  the popular social media influencer, who is famously known as Verydarkman, has disclosed that music producer Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, is the anonymous donor that sent N100 million to his newly established Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).   Angry students from the College of Health Sciences and Technology in Jega, Kebbi State, have set fire to the residence of the college Provost, Haruna Saidu-Sauwa, amid accusations of extortion involving N23 million in fees.  During the unrest, the provost's vehicle was also vandalised by the students.  The unrest was reportedly triggered by claims of extortion by the college management, demanding N23 million for index registration from students. The allegations came after a newly introduced Public Health programme was merged with the Environmental Health department, requiring students to pay an additional N65,000, aside from the N30,000 already paid. Accusing the college of extortion, students responded by stoning vehicles and setting the provost’s home on fire.   The United States government has asked a District Court, Northern District of Georgia to approve the forfeiture of approximately $14 million in assets from Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, the Chief Executive Officer of Air Peace, following a recent superseding indictment.   The indictment outlined serious allegations of fraud and money laundering against Onyema and his associate, Ejiroghene Eghagha, who is the Chief of Administration and Finance at Air Peace. The indictment includes multiple counts against the defendants: Count One alleges conspiracy to commit bank fraud, while Counts Two through Four detailed instances of bank fraud. Count Five pertains to conspiracy to commit credit application fraud, followed by Counts Six through Eight for credit application fraud.   The  Jigawa State Police Command Wednesday attributed the high number of casualties and injured persons in Tuesday night’s fuel tanker explosion to desperate moves by the people in the area to scoop the product after spilling on the road. The accident, according to report, occurred at Majiya town in Taura local government area of the state. The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, said this in a statement made available to journalists in Dutse. The explanation came as Governor Umar Namadi joined a sea of sympathisers during the funeral rites in honour of about 105 victims burnt beyond recognition, after which they were buried in a mass grave.   Proceedings were stalled on Tuesday in the trial of an undergraduate, Chidinma Ojukwu, charged with the murder of Super TV Chief Executive Officer, Michael Usifo Ataga. Chidinma Ojukwu,  a 300-level Mass Communication student of the University of Lagos, is standing trial before the Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square. She is being prosecuted alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and one Adedapo Quadri for the murder of Ataga on June 15, 2021. The court had fixed Tuesday to hear a no-case submission filed by Quadri and Egbuchu but the absence of Egbuchu’s lawyer stalled the hearing. The counsel, CJ Jiakpona had sent in a letter to the court asking for an adjournment. He said he went for another matter at the Federal High Court.
