“I Don't Take Alcohol” – Klint Da Drunk

Nigerian stand-up comedian and actor, Afamefuna Igwemba, popularly known as Klint Da Drunk, has voiced out his inability to tolerate alcohol despite his professional name and comedy persona. Klint Da Drunk, revealed this while chat with the newsmen.

He explained how he makes it work by harmonizing his stage persona with his real-life character, saying he creates the character, not the other way round.

“I am naturally observant, and the character amplifies that. The idea behind the character is that when people are under the influence, they become more courageous and say things they normally wouldn’t. So the character brings out truth in a humorous way,” the comedian said, while confirming that he does not drink alcohol. “ I discovered I am allergic to it,” he admitted, noting that whenever he attempted to take alcohol, he would fall sick for days.

He also admitted to struggling with smoking at some point, but eventually stopped. The comedian who featured in the movie ‘Brother Jekwu’ also shared his delight in the advancement of comedy in Nigeria, despite having dissimilar expectations about how comedy has hastily gone digital, shifting from traditional to virtual platforms through online skits.
