Mother Of Late Dowen College Student-Bullying Victim, Sylvester Oromoni Jr, Dies

  Rosemary Oromoni, the mother of the 12-year-old Dowen college student, Sylvester, who died in 2021 as a result of alleged bullying in the school has reportedly died after a protracted illness. Mrs Oromoni was reported to have suffered heartbreak and trauma over the loss of her youngest child. Two years after her son’s passing, she reportedly succumbed to health complications attributed to heartbreak and trauma. The late Sylvester Jnr. was allegedly a victim of severe bullying by senior students in the Lagos-based school, leading to his untimely death. The family’s ongoing fight for justice has kept their tragic story in the public eye, but the latest loss has left the family in huge shock. “For over two years, Mrs. Oromoni endured an overwhelming burden of grief,  ” a family source who confirmed her death on Sunday, said. Paul Pogba’s Long-Awaited Return To Football Cancelled

  Fans of French footballer, Paul Pogba have expressed frustration after his expected return to the pitch was cancelled just four days before he was set to play. The former Manchester United midfielder was previously handed a four-year suspension from playing after testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone following Juventus’ opening game of the 2023-24 season. Pogba successfully appealed his original ban with it subsequently being reduced to just 18 months and the World Cup winner being permitted to return to competitive action in March 2025. The 31-year-old is planning to restart his career with his contract at Juventus being terminated and is now attempting to rebuild his fitness by playing in exhibition contests. CBN To Retire 1,000 Employees, Spend ₦50 Billion On Payoff

  The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is reportedly preparing to retire approximately 1,000 employees by the end of the year. It was gathered that the ex ercise, reportedly part of a strategic workforce realignment under the leadership of Governor Olayemi Cardoso, is expected to cost over N50 billion in severance packages. Sources within the CBN disclosed that the affected employees include staff members who have served in various capacities across the bank. A circular issued three weeks ago revealed that applications for the Early Exit Package (EEP) would remain open until December 7, with an effective exit date of December 31, 2024. Employees with less than one year of service or unconfirmed appointments are exempted from the program. The EEP, described as a voluntary initiative, offers financial and non-financial incentives to encourage eligible employees to exit the bank. A Nigerian man named Peter Ukaegbu, has mourned the loss of his wife, Emmanuella Chizoba, and their daughter, Onyinyechi Prisca, who tragically died in the stampede at Christ the King Cathedral (CKC) in Aba, Abia State. The mother, daughter and three other worshippers were trampled to d3ath, with about 13 children hospitalised, following the stampede which occurred during the annual Christ the King procession on Sunday, November 25, 2024.  The incident is believed to have occurred due to the overcrowding of the Christ the King Cathedral, as security men were alleged to have locked the gates of the church.   A  Nigerian herbalist named Ismail Usman has suffered life-threatening injuries while testing a self-made 'bulletproof' charm. The incident occurred at the Kuchibuyi village in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja on November 23. Usman was said to have picked a locally fabricated gun after he had fortified himself with the charm he had prepared and shot himself in the stomach. Unfortunately, the charm failed to protect him, leaving him severely injured. Confirming this in a statement on Saturday, the FCT police command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, said the police received a distress call from a resident on the incident. She said officers from the Byazhin Division arrived at the scene and rushed Usman to Kubwa General Hospital. Adeh added that due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Gwagwalada Specialist Hospital, where doctors are working tirelessly to save his life.
