Again! Police Arrest VeryDarkMan Over Defamation Allegations

Controversial social media critic, Martin Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has been arrested by Nigerian police operatives at his Abuja residence on Sunday, June 30. While the reason for his arrest is yet to be disclosed, his lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that it is related to his recent exposé on his X.com. According to Adeyanju, Otse was arrested on the orders of CP Igwe for allegedly defaming someone who had been accused of scamming a Nigerian abroad. He  wrote, “Our client, #thatverydarkman has just been arrested by the police on the instruction of CP Igwe for exposing someone who allegedly duped a Nigerian abroad. “Instead of the police to arrest the person alleged to have duped someone, they arrested VDM on allegation of defamation.”

  An online influencer, Suraj Oyewale, known as #SirJarus, has accused his wife, Mrs. Oyewale Ayoola, of consulting an herbalist, Mayowa Adesoga, after he expressed his intention to marry a second wife in accordance with Islamic rights. Suraj  claimed that he discovered a voice note confirming his wife's consultation with the herbalist, which led him to investigate further. “I did everything possible to placate her when I decided to exercise my Islamic right to marry a second wife. “I knew it was natural for a woman to feel jealous when a man wants to marry a new wife. I recognised that and begged her.” Suraj explained that he had tried to appease Ayoola with various gifts, including: "A N5 million gift was given to her in April to support her business, a few days after I broke the news of my incoming new wife to her. “I gave her a N700,000 gift for jewelry. I gave her N1.2million to buy land in her hometown of Ilorin, with a promise to build a house for her within 2-3 years.

Facebook Content Creators In Nigeria Now Eligible For Monetisation

  Content creators in Nigeria can now earn money from ad revenue as Meta has made good its promise of making the country eligible for monetisation. Meta had promised in May this year that it would allow Facebook monetisation in Nigeria by June. It said, “Monetisation won’t be limited to just Instagram. While responding to a user on X.com on Wednesday who had asked him, “Why aren’t you married?” Don Jazzy stated that he is working on self-improvement. “I dey work on myself, so that when my head correct, my babe go enjoy me,” the head of Mavin Records replied. In 2021, Don Jazzy revealed that he got married to an American model and author, Michelle Jackson, at the age of 20; however, the marriage crashed two years later. He  stated that the marriage failed because he devoted his time to music and neglected his family. “I spoilt it because I was giving all my time to my music. Music became my priority instead of my family. “We got divorced when I was 22, and it hurt.   The Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation to unravel the true circumstances surrounding the death of the former Chief Executive Officer of Konga, one of Nigeria’s e-commerce giants, Nick Imudia, who reportedly died by suicide at his residence in the Lekki area of Lagos State. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development to the newsmen on Thursday after it became public knowledge that Imudia, in an apparent attempt to take his life, allegedly jumped from the balcony of his residence. “Yes it is true. He allegedly committed suicide on June 25. An investigation has commenced at the homicide section, SCID, Yaba.” Hundeyin said.   The Ikorodu Magistrate’s Court in Lagos State has granted the family of the late singer Mohbad permission to conduct a second autopsy. It was gathered that  the singer’s family had expressed dissatisfaction with the initial autopsy results, which were deemed inconclusive. The 27-year-old singer died under controversial circumstances on September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day. Following  the calls from Nigerians to ascertain the cause of his death, his body was exhumed on September 21, 2023, for an autopsy by the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH. His family, however, rejected the result of the autopsy over its failure to reveal the cause of death. NAIRA ABUSE: Court Strikes Out Cubana Chief Priest's Charge After Out-Of-Court Settlement With EFCC

Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, on Tuesday, June 25, struck out the charge of naira abuse filed against popular bartender, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The  judge also directed Okechukwu to forfeit the sum of N10million to the Nigerian government as part of an out-of-court deal the defendant agreed with the EFCC in lieu of the charge. This was contained in the terms of settlement agreement with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which was adopted before the trial judge, Justice Kehinde Ogundare on Tuesday. At the proceedings, Counsel for the EFCC, Bilkisu Buhari-Bala, informed the court that parties in the charge entered into the out-of-court settlement and same was duly signed by both parties. Cleaner Bags Life Imprisonment For Sexually Assaulting A Five-Year-Old Girl In Church

The Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Monday sentenced a 27-year-old cleaner, Saviour Udoh, to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl on a church premises. Justice Ramon Oshodi held that the prosecution was able to prove the offence of defilement against the convict without reasonable doubt, stating that the defendant’s action was reprehensible and deserving of the maximum punishment under the law. Udoh was arraigned on February 5, 2020, on a count of sexual assault by penetration preferred against him by the state, to which he pleaded not guilty. According to the prosecution counsel, I.D. Solarin, the offence committed by Udoh contravened Section 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The court heard that the incident occurred on December 12, 2018, on the premises of a prominent Pentecostal church in Ikeja, Lagos.   An inferno has engulfed the headquarters of Christ Embassy Church located in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State. An eyewitness confirmed this to the newsmen. Multiple videos on X have also shown the massive edifice being destroyed by fire. The fear which broke out in the early hours of Sunday caused significant damage to the church property, sending shock waves throughout the immediate community and beyond. EFCC Arrests Two Ex-Bankers For Alleged Theft Of Dead Customer’s Money

Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have nabbed two former bankers for allegedly stealing money belonging to a deceased customer.   EFCC’s spokesman Dele Oyewale said the agency’s operatives in the Markurdi Zonal Command arrested the suspects for allegedly stealing N4,199,500 belonging to a deceased customer. “The  suspects, Idah Ogoh and Agbo Okwute were arrested on Friday, June 21, 2024, in Makurdi, Benue State,” Oyewale said in a Saturday statement. “Their arrest followed a petition against them by the bank on fraudulent debits on a deceased customer, Emmanuel Azer Agenna’s account. Their dealings were uncovered when the family of the deceased approached the bank for the balance on the account of the deceased for probate processing. The family disputed the balance given to them by the bank and subsequently sent a complaint to the bank regarding unauthorised debits on the account. Retired Army General Shot Dead In Abuja Home

  Brig Gen Harold Udokwere (rtd) was reportedly attacked and killed in the early hours of yesterday at his home in Abuja. Sources said suspected armed robbers attacked, the General’s house located at No 1, Sanga Street, Sunshine Homes by Kabusa Junction at Lokogoma Abuja around 3 am. The robbers reportedly asked for jewelleries, money and other valuables, adding that he was later shot. The sources said the robbers also injured one of the neighbourhood guards during the attack, noting that Udokwere was taken to the National Hospital Abuja where he was confirmed dead.
