NAFDAC Alerts On Unwholesome Sprite 50cl Glass Bottle In Nigeria

  The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Thursday alerted Nigerians of an “unwholesome” Sprite 50cl glass bottle drink with batch number AZ6 22:32. The agency which also announced this on its twitter handle, @NafdacAgency, said the contaminated glass bottle drink were manufactured April 18, 2023 and has an expiry date of April 4, 2024 The agency added that the product was discovered following a consumer complaint and upon investigation, over five crates of the batch were discovered to be contaminated with particles. In a statement, the agency explained that the affected batch of the unwholesome product has been sampled for laboratory analysis in its laboratory. “How We Attacked, Killed Naval Officer In Ondo” – Suspects

  The three suspects, who killed a naval officer, Sub. Lt. Samuel Akingbohun, in Idoani, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, on Thursday, narrated how they carried out the crime. According to the suspects, Ayomide Sambo, 20, Johnson Adeleke, 20, and Francis Shagari, 17, who were paraded at the police headquarters, Akure, the state capital, they used an iron rod to hit the officer on his head and scrotum, during a fisticuffs. One of the suspects, Ayomide, stated that the deceased naval officer had slapped and headbutted his friend, Johnson Adeleke, while trying to claim the right of way. Sambo, disclosed that he and Johnson as well as their third friend, Francis Shagari, became infuriated and decided to trail the naval officer to a junction in the community, where they attacked him with the iron rod. US Records Malaria Cases In Florida And Texas

  The United States of America (USA), has recorded five cases of malaria. All five patients — four in Florida, one in Texas — have now had treatment. According to reports, the Florida and Texas cases were locally acquired; the first spread of the mosquito-transmitted disease inside the US in 20 years. Meanwhile, the Centres for Disease Control said surveillance for more cases is continuing, adding that the risk of catching malaria in the US remains extremely low. The Centre said it was working with the Florida and Texas health departments and that those recently diagnosed and treated “are improving”. Malaria is caused by being bitten by an infected mosquito. People cannot catch it from each other. But the insects catch it from infected people, thereby continuing a cycle. Malaria is common in Africa, Asia and Central and South America but not the US. IPOB Dismisses Rumour Of One-Week-Sit-At-Home In South East

  The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has dismissed an audio message circulating on social media asking residents of the southeast to observe a one-week-sit-at-home from July 3 to 10. The sit-at-home order, purported to have come from IPOB, with the tag #FreeNnamdiKanu, is aimed at forcing the Federal Government to release Nnamdi Kanu, who has been in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS). The audio message claimed that there will be dire consequences for anyone who ventures out on the said dates. The Zuba Magistrate Court in the Federal Capital Territory has ordered the Kuje correctional facility to continue holding Mr. Obiajulu Uja, in their custody. In April, Uja, onboard a Lagos-Abuja flight, declared that Tinubu should never be sworn in as President on May 29, 2023. It was reported that it took the efforts of no fewer than six airport security officers to carry Uja out. In a viral video, Uja is heard shouting while being carried off the aircraft, saying, “Obidients you’re here. They are doing this to me. Obidients you’re here, I am naked. Manchester City have signed Croatia midfielder Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea for an initial £25m. The deal for the 29-year-old is also worth a possible £5m in add-ons and he has signed a four-year contract. Despite Governor Peter Mbah’s Order, Monday Sit-At-Home Persists In Enugu

  Despite an order of the Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, canceling sit-at-home being observed every Monday in the southeastern state, shops and businesses still remain shut on Mondays. Recall that Mbah, in a statement by his media team on June 3, cancelled the sit-at-home order of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), threatening to sanction any businesses or outlets obeying the proscribed group’s order in the state. However, our reporter observed today that as of the time of filing this report, all markets are not operating while streets and motor parks remain deserted. Also, schools, offices, banks, shops, supermarkets, including filling stations, hotels and other public places are all shut. Meanwhile, there have been no security breaches as the military and Police are seen patrolling the streets.

EFCC Arrests FBI Impostor Over Alleged €5.7Million Internet Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Monday, confirmed the arrest of a Federal Bureau of Investigation impostor, Ifechukwu Makwe, for allegedly defrauding a Spaniard of €5.7m. The Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren, in a statement, said Makwe defrauded the Spaniard using different identities, adding that he was arrested in the Guzape area of Abuja following credible intelligence about his fraudulent internet-related activities. “ Upon arrest, it was discovered that the suspect, bearing many aliases including Fahad Makwe, Senator Tompolo, Tom Makwe, Dr Bran, defrauded a Spaniard of €5.7million,” the statement said. Oyo State Magistrate Court sitting in Iyaganku, Ibadan, has remanded skit maker, Abdullahi Maruff Adisa, popularly known as Trinityguy, in prison for allegedly sexualizing a minor in his viral skit video. It was gathered  that the Nigeria Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi had last week called for the skit maker’s arrest following a trending video of his dangerous pranks. Oyo State Police Command in a statement on Friday announced that the skit maker and parent of the little girl in the viral video were quizzed by the Command and would appear in court Monday 26 June 2023. “Banks Must Obtain Customers’ Social Media Handles For Identification” – CBN

  Financial institutions have been mandated by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to obtain the social media handles of customers for the purpose of identification. It also asked financial institutions to obtain e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, and residential addresses, among other things, from customers. This is contained in the new CBN customer due diligence regulations aimed at further strengthening the identification process in the banking system. The apex bank published the ‘Central Bank of Nigeria (Customer Due Diligence) Regulations, 2023’ document on its website on Friday. According to the CBN, the new regulation was designed to provide additional customer due diligence measures for financial institutions under its regulatory purview.
