DIVORCE: "My Wife Denied Me Sex, Deserted Family" - Nollywood Actor Kalu Ikeagwu Tells Court

Nollywood actor, Kalu Ikeagwu, on Monday, told an Ikeja High Court how his estranged wife, Ijeoma, allegedly deserted their matrimonial home and denied him sex after welcoming their son. It was gathered that Ikeagwu, in the suit marked LD/8939HD/2021, is seeking a dissolution of his six-year-old marriage to Ijeoma. The actor is also seeking full custody of his three-year-old son and ten-year-old step-daughter. Under cross-examination by the respondent’s counsel, Mrs S.I. Amedu, Ikeagwu said his wife packed out of his matrimonial home and sent him a mail that she was on her way to her father’s house in Enugu. He, however, said contrary to her claim that he later saw her at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport with the children after some days. He said, “I got back home from a trip on August 4, 2021 to find out that my wife had left our matrimonial home with the children to an undisclosed location. “I tried to contact her when I got to the house and found it empty. "How Humans Can Get Infected With Monkeypox" - NCDC

Information obtained from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Sunday night has revealed how human beings can get infected with monkeypox. It was gathered that the disease control agency in a monkeypox situation report released on Sunday night stated that 66 suspected cases of the disease were discovered in Nigeria between January 1, 2022 and May 29, 2022. Though 21 were fully confirmed, the agency noted that one death was reported. Monkeypox, according to the NCDC is a rare viral zoonotic infectious disease (i.e.,an infection transmitted from animals to humans) that is endemic in areas in and near tropical rainforests in Central and West Africa. It is caused by the Monkeypox virus which belongs to the same Orthopoxvirus genus and Poxviridae family of viruses as the Variola virus (Smallpox virus), the Vaccinia virus (used in smallpox vaccine for eradication programme), and the cowpox virus (used in earlier generations of smallpox vaccines) and some other viruses. Suspended Benue Catholic Priest Beats Ex Attorney General Of The Federation And Minister Of Justice, Others To APC Governorship Ticket

The suspended Benue Catholic priest, Hyacinth Alia, has won the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress in the state. The embattled Alia was earlier suspended from celebrating public Eucharistic mass by the Catholic Bishop of Gboko Diocese, William Avenya, due to his participation in partisan politics. Alia won 12 out of the 23 local government areas of the state with a total of 464,391 votes. He beat his rivals, Mathias Byuan, who won in one local government and a former Minister of State for Niger Delta, Sam Ode, who won in five LGAs. Former Deputy Governor, Steven Lawani, also won in five LGAs but trailed the ex-minister behind. However, a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mike Aondoakaa, as well as the immediate past Chief of Staff to Governor Samuel Ortom, who defected to the APC when the zoning arrangements did not favour him, lost their council areas to the Catholic priest.

Controversial fast-rising Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, survived a car accident shortly after apologizing to the organisers of the Headies Awards for making death threats against the artistes nominated alongside him in two categories— Best Street-Hop Artiste and Rookie of the Year. The singer took to Instagram to post a video showing the damaged car. He said, “I am just in search of what to eat, may God not allow me meet what will eat me. Smooth Productions, organisers of popular Nigerian music awards, The Headies, have condemned controversial artiste, Portable, for threatening the lives of fellow nominees. OSINACHI'S DEATH: Federal Government Of Nigeria Files 23-Count Charge Against Husband Peter Nwachukwu

The Federal Government of Nigeria has entered a 23-count charge against Mr. Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of late popular gospel singer, Osinachi, who died after an alleged prolonged assault by her spouse. The Federal Government, in the charge that was filed by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, alleged that the late Osinachi was forcefully ejected from her matrimonial home by her husband, contrary to the Violence Against Persons, VAP (Prohibition) Act, 2015. It alleged that the defendant, Nwachukwu, had at a time, forcefully pushed his late wife out of a moving vehicle. The defendant was specifically charged for alleged committing culpable homicide under sections 104 and 379 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, an offence contrary to section 221 of the Penal Code and punishable with death.   The family of the late gospel artist, Osinachi Nwachukwu, has fixed a date for her burial. Osinachi’s family reportedly fixed June 25, 2022 for the burial of the “Ekwueme” crooner. The deceased family insisted that Osinachi would be buried in her father’s compound at Isuochi, Abia State, instead of her husband’s house. According to some reporters, the family are also contemplating returning the singer’s bride price. The news of Osinachi’s death broke on April 8, 2022. Osinachi was said to have died as a result of domestic violence she suffered from her husband, Peter Nwachukwu. Meanwhile, the Federal Government had slammed homicide charges against Peter. A Nigerian born UK based accountant has admitted stalking a beautician who he failed to impress with his clumsy attempts at romantic poetry and pestered by banging on the windows of her London salon and sending unwanted emails. Oluwaseyi Elemide, 26, badgered Demi Witter at her Lavender Hill business ‘lash+brow lab’ in Battersea, bringing a gift of tea and a card, banging on the salon windows and following her on Instagram between July 20 and 27 last year. Wimbledon Magistrates Court heard that the University of Northampton graduate even wrote her the clumsy romantic poem: ‘Roses are red, violets are blue. Nigerian Correctional Service Reacts To Report Of Attack On Abba Kyari In Kuje Correctional Centre

  The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has reacted to claim by former Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, that he was not safe in custody as there was no threat to his life. It was gathered that on  Thursday, he approached a Federal High Court for another bail plea. Kyari and three of his co-defendants, through their counsel, urged Justice Emeka Nwite to admit them to bail because their lives in the Kuje Correctional Centre, where they are being remanded, were unsafe. Report had also emerged that Kyari was attacked by some inmates and he escaped death. Reacting, Mr Francis Enobore, the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Mr Francis Enobore, described the allegation that Kyari was attacked by his fellow inmates as fake. Abia Community Buries Catechist Beheaded By Unknown Gunmen

  As the menace of unknown gunmen continued unabated in various parts of the South-East geopolitical zone, tears flowed freely yesterday at Umutu Autonomous community, Lokpaukwu-Umuchieze in Umunneochi Local Government Area of Abia State as the headless body of Chief Clement Umeh, Catechist of St. Clement's Catholic Church, Lokpaukwu, was buried. The late Umeh, according to sources, was beheaded by about 20 gunmen that invaded his home in the village last Sunday. The sources said the gunmen had on arrival dragged the catechist outside from his parlour, tied his hands, beheaded him, set his house ablaze and made away with his head. At press time, there was no clue as to what prompted the gunmen to murder him in such a manner.   The Federal High Court has postponed the trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to 28th June 2022. IPOB’s Spokesman, Emma Powerful, who made this known in a statement on Wednesday said the hearing was postponed because Justice Binta Nyako is indisposed. Powerful said its Legal Counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor notified the group that the Court will no longer be sitting tomorrow, 26th May 2022, adding that there will be no sit-at-home on Thursday. He continued, ”Sit-at-home will hold on 28th June 2022. According to the Registrar, this is because Justice Binta Nyako is indisposed, and as such, the matter is now adjourned to the 28th day of June 2022 for Ruling/Hearing.
