Nigerian Lady Dies Two Months After Posting "If I Die During Lockdown No Need For Autopsy"

A 22-year-old woman has died two months after making a post about death on Facebook.   Sandra Chinenye Obioha Ihekwereme wrote on Facebook on April 4: "If I die in this lockdown no need for autopsy. Na yam and red oil and garri with salt kill me."     Sadly, Sandra passed on on June 12. Her obituary says she died "after a brief illness."   She will be laid to rest on Friday, July 3.     Friends are mourning her on Facebook while resharing her April post.  

Chinese Scientists Warn That Pigs Could Be The Source Of Next Pandemic As Strain Of Swine Flu In China Has Potential To Spread To Humans

Chinese scientists have warned that pigs are a 'key intermediate host' or 'mixing vessel' for viruses spreading from wild animals into humans and could cause another pandemic if not taken seriously. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have been studying outbreaks of swine flu in pig farms across the country and say the latest strain can pass to humans even though only two people are confirmed to have caught the virus, dubbed G4 EA H1N1, since the first outbreak in 2016.   The researchers who say the disease is 'highly adapted' to infect humans are now calling for monitoring of farms and people working on or near them as further transmission could cause the virus to 'adapt and become a pandemic'.    The two cases of a G4-like EA H1N1 virus were of a 46-year-old and a 9-year-old. Mother Of Two Rescued After Failed Suicide Attempt

The quick intervention of neighbours on Thursday, June 25, saved a mother of two, Mrs Bukola Agboola, who attempted to commit suicide in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos state.   According to Vanguard, the victim who resides at Number 2 Kuburat Lawal street in Abule Egba, drank sniper and was waiting to die when she was found and rescued. She was rushed to a hospital where doctors were able to stabilize her.   Recounting her ordeal on her sickbed, Bukola said she decided to end her life over the constant physical and emotional abuse her husband, Mr Wasiu Agboola, has allegedly subjected her to over the years. UN Says It Is ‘Deeply Disturbed’ By The Scene Of Couple Having Sex In Its Official Vehicle

The United Nations has reacted to a video of a couple having sex in one of its official cars in Israel.    In the viral video which was shot in HaYarkon Street, a major thoroughfare in Tel Aviv, a woman wearing a red dress was seen straddling a man in the back seat of a white SUV with UN markings. The video featured a 4×4 vehicle which is “likely assigned to the UN Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO)”.   The people caught on camera are believed to be staff members of a peacekeeping organization in Israel.  Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesman for the UN’s Secretary-General said they are “shocked and deeply disturbed” by the scandalous viral video. Pastor Arrested For Allegedly Raping 16-Year-Old Girl Inside His Church

The Akwa Ibom Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old pastor identified as Nnamso Friday Jacob a.k.a ‘Major Prophet Honesty Jesus,’ for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl inside his church.    The 16-year-old girl who went in for “counselling and deliverance” fixed by the Pastor, was reportedly drugged and raped at Jacob's church, the Living Power of Zion Church located at Ndue Eduo, Okon Eket, Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom state.    Police spokesperson in the state, N-nudam Fredrick said the incident occurred on June 23. He said;  “While she was in the prophet’s counselling room, the suspect administered an intoxicating liquid substance to the victim and thereafter took advantage of the victim and had unlawful carnal knowledge of her."   Fredrick further revealed that Jacob is the second pastor to be arrested for rape in the state in less than a month.

A Tanzanian miner and father-of-30 children has become an overnight millionaire after digging up two massive chunks of one of the world's rarest gemstones worth $3.35million.     The Tanzanian government handed Saniniu Laizer a cheque for 7.74 billion Tanzanian shillings ($3.35million) for the two dark violet-blue stones during a trading event in the northern region of Manyara on Wednesday, June 24.  He discovered the rarest gemstones which weighed 9.2kg and 5.8kg in the north of the country last week.    The father of 30 children who has four wives vowed to use some of the money to build a school and a shopping mall in his community, where many parents can't afford to pay for their children's education.        President John Magufuli  phoned to congratulate Laizer live on television during the presentation of his cheque. 'This is a confirmation that Tanzania is rich,' Magufuli told minerals minister Doto Biteko.  

Beachgoers Look On In Shock As Man Grabs Shark With Bare Hands On Delaware Beach

The swimmer grabbed the shark off Cape Henlopen State Park Beach in Delaware last weekend.    The video, shared on Facebook by Delaware native Rachael Foster, shows a man grabbing onto the shark while trying to unhook it after it had been caught.    Sharing the video, Foster wrote: "Everyone started yelling, ‘Shark, shark, get out of the water!'. It was so crazy, like a movie. Like Jaws."   According to Foster, the man in the video was not the person who caught the shark. After his friend caught the shark, the man went in the water to open the shark’s mouth to get the hook out. Then, the shark was let go.   According to the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife, sand tiger and sandbar sharks are prohibited from being kept and those that are not retained must be immediately released to ensure survival.    Speaking of the encounter, Foster said: "It was so cool. Earthquake With Moderate Magnitude Of 4.0 Hits Accra, Ghana

A moderate earthquake was felt in some parts of Accra in Ghana at around 11pm on Wednesday, June 24. According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake reached magnitude 4.0, making it one of the strongest earthquakes in Ghana in years.   The tremor was reportedly felt three times in the space of 10 minutes, creating panic among residents in Accra. It was also captured in a CCTV in someone's house.  Some of the areas the tremor was felt included   Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Kaneshie, Tesano, Dansoman, Dunkanaa, Lapaz, Achimota, Santa Maria, Adenta, Weija, Madina, Kwabenya, East Legon, Nsawam, Koforidua, Swedru, Dodowa, Tema among others.   Back in 2019, Ghana experienced two earth tremors and one in 2018. These tremors were recorded in Accra, the capital.

Body Of 17-Year-Old Girl Swept Away By Lagos Flood Has Been Found

The body of a 17-year-old girl, simply identified as Ayisat, who was swept away by strong flood at   Alapafuja axis of the Surulere Low-Cost Housing Estate   on Monday June 22, has been found.   On Monday, Lagos witnessed a heavy downpour causing most areas in the state to become flooded. The canal along Alapafuja close linking Bank Olemoh was submerged as a result of flooding.   After an intense search, men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, found the dead body of the girl at Onilegogo canal, Surulere on Tuesday afternoon June 23. The body was handed over to her community members who immediately buried her.  

South Africa To Start Africa's First Coronavirus Vaccine Trial This Week

South Africa, the country with the highest Coronavirus cases in Africa, will roll out the first coronavirus vaccine trial in Africa this week.   The vaccine, known as ChAdOx1 nCoV-19, was developed by the Oxford Jenner Institute and it is already being evaluated in Britain, where 4,000 participants have signed up for the trial.   South Africa has set out to vaccinate 2,000 people with the vaccine. Fifty of the candidates have HIV.   “We began screening participants for the South African Oxford 1 Covid-19 vaccine trial last week, and the first participants will be vaccinated this week,” University of Witwatersrand (Wits) vaccinology professor Shabir Madhi told a virtual press conference.     Wits is collaborating with the University of Oxford and the Oxford Jenner Institute on the South African trial.   Brazil is planning its own pilot, while the United States is preparing to test another vaccine in a mass trial of up to 30,000 participants, AFP reports.   “As we enter winter in South A

Steve Bing, an American producer, philanthropist, and writer has died by suicide at the age of 55.    According to TMZ, he died on Monday June 22nd after jumping from the 27th floor of a luxury apartment building in L.A.'s Century City neighborhood. Sources told the publication that he had been suffering from depression due to lack of human contact during quarantine.   Bing, who founded Shangri-La Entertainment inherited a fortune of some $600 million from his grandfather, L.A. real estate developer Leo S. A Nigerian man simply identified as Femi, stabbed his wife to death, and thereafter committed suicide in their home in Victory Park estate in Lagos state on Sunday, June 21.   According to residents of the estate, the couple moved into the estate three weeks ago with their two young children. Not much was known about the couple but just a day before the murder-suicide, they were spotted jogging together on Saturday night June 20.    However, on Sunday, the man who is said to have always questioned the paternity of their second child, stabbed his wife to death, and then took his own life.   A neighbor who spoke on condition of anonymity to reporters, said  On Sunday afternoon, neighbors close to the couple's apartment heard loud music emanating from their home and this lasted for many hours.  The neighbors went to the estate office to complain about the loud music and insisted the estate officials go there and caution the couple.
