Bayer Leverkusen Appoints Ten Hag As Alonso’s Replacement

    Erik ten Hag has been appointed as manager of German club, Bayer 04 Leverkusen.   The announcement was made on Monday.   Ten Hag signed a contract that will keep him at the Bundesliga club until June 2027.   “Let’s get started! “Erik ten Hag signs with Bayer 04 as our new head coach until 2027!” t he club posted in an official statement on Monday via X, welcoming Ten Hag, confirming the deal.   The 54-year-old tactician replaces Xabi Alonso, who previously led Leverkusen to domestic success.   Ten Hag was widely considered the main candidate for the role following Alonso’s departure.   The club confirmed that the deal is a two-year agreement, running through to the end of the 2026/27 season.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has announced that the Port Harcourt Refining Company (PHRC) will undergo a scheduled maintenance shutdown starting May 24, 2025. In a statement on Saturday by its Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Femi Soneye, NNPCL said the shutdown is part of a planned maintenance and sustainability assessment aimed at ensuring optimal performance of the facility. He said that further updates about the development will be provided regularly through official channels.   Selena Doxzon, a 28-year-old mother in Wisconsin has been arrested in connection with the death of her 13-month-old son, who reportedly drowned after she allegedly left him unattended in a deep bathtub. Doxzon was taken into custody last week and charged with one count of neglecting a child-consequence is death, court documents show. According to a copy of the criminal complaint obtained by Law&Crime, on May 15, 2025, a woman told investigators she heard her neighbour — later identified as Doxzon — “screaming from the lower unit of the duplex.” When the caller went downstairs, she said she saw Doxzon holding her son.   A judgment by Justice Benson Anya of the Abia State High Court on the military invasion of the residence of Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), in 2017 has been admitted as evidence.   A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja and presided by Justice James Omotosho admitted the judgment and two others on Wednesday.   Recall that Justice Anya, delivering judgment in the fundamental rights suit filed by Kanu, had declared that the invasion of Kanu’s home in Umuahia, Abia State, in September 2017, was illegal, unlawful, unconstitutional and amounted to an infringement of his fundamental rights to life, dignity and fair hearing.   The judge subsequently ordered the Nigerian government to pay Kanu the sum of ₦1 billion for infringing his rights as guaranteed under the 1999 Nigerian Constitution and the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights.   Justice Omotosho admitted the said judgment in evidence, as well as the certified...
