It was gathered that in a video clip, which went viral last week, captured a student named AbdulKabir AbdulKadir from Kasim Primary School in Agaie expressing anger over the state of the nation. The student, in his motion during a debate, voiced opposition to compulsory voting in the country, expressing concern that the citizens’ votes have lost significance, citing corrupt leaders. NLC To Hold Two-Day Nationwide Protest Over Hardship, Insecurity

  The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) will hold a two-day nationwide protest over the hardship being experienced by Nigerians as well as the deteriorating security situation in the country. NLC President, Joe Ajaero, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja on Friday after an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the union. He said the protest will begin a week after the expiration of the 14 day ultimatum it issued to the Federal Government which will expire on February 23.   The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), has said that social media content creators must now register their handles and accounts. This include Instagram and TikTok users with large followers, according to CAC, must now register their businesses with the commission. The commission said that this is in accordance with the Company and Allied Matters Act 2020. This is coming amid alleged plans by the Federal Inland Revenue Services, FIRS, to onboard media content and influencers into its tax system. The Registrar General, CAC, Hussaini Magaji, made this disclosure on Tuesday during a courtesy visit by the Managing Director, Opay, Dauda Gotring and his team in Abuja. 13-Year-Old Boy Remanded For Allegedly Defiling 6-Year-Old Girl In Lagos State

  A 13-year-old boy has been remanded in a Borstal Correctional Centre in Lagos for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s 6-year-old girl. The boy, a student who lives with his parents at 96, Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos was arraigned on charges of defilement at Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos. The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Raji Akeem told the court that the offence was committed in January 2024 at the defendant‘s residence. Akeem said that the boy, lured his neighbour’s six-year-old girl, to his room when their parents were not around and defiled her. The offence according to the prosecutor contravened the provisions of section 210 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi refused to take the minor’s plea. She ordered him to be remanded in the Borstal Correctional center until April 17 for legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

  The United States authorities said rain, wintry weather could be responsible for the crash in the helicopter that claimed the lives of Herbert Wigwe, Group Chief Executive Officer, Access Bank Plc, his wife and son, including Abimbola Ogunbanjo, immediate past Chairman, Nigerian Exchange Group Plc. Speaking during a media briefing Saturday (3am Nigerian time on Sunday), a National Transportation Safety Board member, Michael Graham, said officials were on the scene to gather perishable evidence. Graham said the team was “methodically and systematically reviewing all evidence” and considering all potential factors to determine the probable cause of the crash.
