President Tinubu Orders Suspension Of FAAN Cashless Policy

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the immediate suspension of the controversial cashless policy introduced by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).

This is coming barely four days after its rollout triggered massive gridlock at major airports nationwide.

The policy, launched on Sunday, March 1, 2026, mandated digital payments via ‘Go Cashless’ cards or POS systems for airport access gates, parking and lounges.

It sparked severe traffic jams at key facilities such as Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, resulting in long queues, stranded motorists and numerous missed flights.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, announced the suspension of the policy while briefing State House Correspondents on the outcome of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), meeting presided over by President Tinubu.

According to the minister, Tinubu asked the aviation ministry and the leadership of FAAN to halt implementation, pending a review.

The President equally ordered them to “go back to the drawing board” and develop a more people‑friendly alternative that balances revenue transparency goals with passenger convenience.

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has told the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to stay calm and steadfast as he continues efforts to secure his release. It was gathered that the governor visited the IPOB leader at the Sokoto Correctional Centre on Sunday, November 30, 2025. Court Orders Nigerian Government To Serve Court Documents On Nnamdi Kanu Ahead Of Trial

  The Federal High Court in Abuja has given an order to the Federal Government.   It ordered the Federal Government to always serve Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu with documents and materials intended to be submitted as exhibits before they are tendered in court.   Justice James Omotosho said such documents and materials must be front loaded and be made available to the defendant as required by law so as not to catch him unawares in the defense of terrorism charges filed against him.   The judge issued the order on Tuesday during the resumption of Kanu’s trial on terrorism charges.   Issues arose when the second prosecution witness (PW2), codenamed as PWBBB, testified that he was assigned by the Attorney General of the Federation to investigate Kanu.   He described Kanu as the operator of Radio Biafra and the founder of the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
