Davido Becomes First African Artiste To Hit Atlanta Golden Spike

Nigerian music star, David  Adeleke, professionally known as Davido, has set a new record as the first African artiste to hit the Atlanta golden spike. The Atlanta golden spike references the ceremonial final spike fixed into a railroad track after it has been laid. As a railroad state in the US, the hitting of the golden spike is a tradition which occurs before the start of matches played by the Atlanta Football team, Atlanta United FC. Davido, born in Atlanta to Nigerian parents, was given the honour on Saturday night, and, according to goal.com, became the first African artiste to perform the tradition. Other artistes who have been honoured to hit the golden spike include rapper 2 Chainz, Yung Joc, Waka Flocka, country musician Zac Brown, and others. Nigerian Government Extends NIN-SIM Linkage To October 31

The deadline for linking the national identity numbers to SIM cards in Nigeria has been shifted again. The deadline, which was to come into effect on Monday 26th of July, has now been extended by three months to October 31. The decision to extend the deadline was made following a request by stakeholders to accommodate registration in hard-to-reach remote areas, foreigners and diplomatic missions, diaspora and address low enrolments in schools and hospitals, as evidenced by enrolment statistics. It also followed a review of the progress of the exercise which indicated significant progress hence the need to consolidate the gains of the enrolment and NIN-SIM verification process across the country. All eyes were on Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, yesterday, for the arraignment of Yoruba Nation agitator, Chief Sunday Adeyemo, fondly called Sunday Igboho, since his arrest on Monday night. Hordes of his supporters had since morning trooped to the court in anticipation of his appearance. The environment got tension-soaked as the hours dragged on, awaiting commencement of proceedings. Benin Republic Rejects Sunday Igboho's Extradition To Nigeria

The Republic of Benin has rejected the extradition of Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Igboho to Nigeria.   Recall that Benin security agents took Igboho and his wife into custody in neighbouring Cotonou on the night of Monday, July 19, under directives from the Nigeria, as the activist was reportedly planning to travel to Germany with his wife who is a German citizen. A robust legal challenge  by Igboho's legal team against the Benin government has now stapled his extradition to Nigeria despite the FG's insistence that he be extradited to Nigeria to face allegations of weapons stockpiling and activities that threaten the country. Netflix To Include Free Games In Users’ Subscription

Popular video-streaming service, Netflix, is set to include free games in its users’ subscription soon. The company made this known in its 2021 second quarter letter to its shareholders, released on Tuesday. In the release, the company revealed that it is in its early stage of expanding into games as a new content category. “We’re also in the early stages of further expanding into games, building on our earlier efforts around interactivity (eg,  Black Mirror Bandersnatch ) and our  Stranger Things  games. We view gaming as another new content category for us, similar to our expansion into original films, animation and unscripted TV,” the letter revealed. The International Criminal Police Organisation arrested Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo; with his wife, Ropo, in Cotonou, Benin Republic, the activist’s lead counsel, Yomi Alliyu (SAN), has said. Alliyu revealed this in a statement obtained by some reporters on Tuesday. According to him, the Federal Government of Nigeria through INTERPOL got Adeyemo aka Sunday Igboho and his wife, who is a German citizen, arrested on Monday night at an airport in Benin Republic, one of Nigeria’s neighbouring countries in the West African sub-region.
