Pastor Chris Okafor Fails To Appear At Police Over Alleged Sexual Offences

The Founder and General Overseer of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministries, widely known as the Grace Nation International or Liberation City, Pastor Chris Okafor, did not honour a police invitation on Monday in connection with allegations of multiple rape and other offences that could disrupt public order.

It was earlier gathered that Pastor Chris Okafor was requested to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, before the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing SCID by 10:00 a.m.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, stated in a Sunday briefing that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had mandated a thorough investigation into complaints lodged against the cleric.

The allegations reportedly involve sexual misconduct and actions potentially capable of disturbing public peace.

An officer at SCID, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Okafor did not show up as scheduled.

“Following the CP’s directive, the DCP instructed the unit handling the case to debrief him, but he did not appear. As of evening, it was evident he would not attend today,” the officer said.

Another source familiar with the matter revealed that Okafor allegedly sent representatives to request additional time from the police.

“We received calls from his aides asking for an extension and assuring authorities that he would eventually report. That is the latest update we have,” the source said.

Attempts to reach Adebisi for comment on Monday were unsuccessful, as calls and text messages to her office went unanswered at the time of filing this report.
