Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old female fashion designer, Omowumi Oyapitan, for allegedly killing a bartender, Muhammed Ahmed, 30. Ahmed reportedly stole N600,000 from his boss and went into hiding in a hotel with his friends. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Thursday, said the police discovered that the deceased used part of the stolen money to lodge some of his friends in the hotel, one of whom he later accused of stealing part of the money. The police spokesperson said the accusation led to a hot exchange of words between them. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, who had been in the hotel since Monday, December 27, 2021, was hiding tre after stealing the sum of N600,000 from his boss at Hayorlak Hotel, where he was working as a bartender. “It was further gathered that he used part of the stolen money to lodge some of his friends. A Nigerian health worker, Godbless Uwadiegwu, who pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving memory care patients in the United States has been sentenced to three years in prison. Uwadiegwu, 59, of Middletown, pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition last month. He sexually assaulted two women at two different facilities in Warren County. On Tuesday, Judge Don Oda sentenced Uwadiegwu to the maximum prison sentence, 18 months on each conviction for a total of three years,  wlwt  reports. Victims and their families didn’t attend the sentencing hearing due to airline and COVID-19 issues, but a livestream was available for them to watch it remotely. In addition, victim advocate, Erika Bourelle, read letters on behalf of the victims and their families. One letter was written by one of the victims herself. “Some people may not remember, but I do. This happened on his first day in my building. I needed assistance after using the restroom and he came in to help me wipe,” she wrote.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), yesterday, ended the speculations on who becomes Super Eagles head coach when it named Portugal’s Jose Peseiro as the senior national team’s new manager. But the Federation announced that its technical director, Austin Eguavoen, who is currently Super Eagles interim coach, will lead the team to the Cameroun 2022 African Cup of Nations, with Peseiro joining the team to Cameroun as an observer. In a communiqué issued after its executive committee meeting, yesterday, the NFF also announced that Austin Eguavoen, who was previously appointed as interim coach of the Super Eagles, will now revert to his role as the Federation’s technical director. The family of Alexander Uzoma, a 20-year-old student killed by four suspected Internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys), has demanded justice for him. The elder brothers of the Business Administration student, who spoke to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Wednesday, faulted a report by the police that the victim was killed after he went out to see a friend. They stated that Alexander, a fan of Manchester United, left home to watch a football match at a viewing centre around Adigbe, Abeokuta, when he went missing. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, had last week disclosed that the command arrested four suspects in connection with the death. Oyeyemi also said the suspects confirmed that they dumped Alexander’s corpse on Kuto Bridge in Abeokuta on November 20. Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the 2019 Imo election, Uche Nwosu, has said the police never invited him for any questioning before he was whisked away from a church service in Eziama-Obaire, Nkwerre Council of Imo State by masked police operatives. Veteran US Rapper,  P Diddy has sold the California home where his late ex-girlfriend and mother of three of his children, Kim Porter, died for $7million. Kim Porter had maintained an on-off relationship with the rapper until 2007. She died of labour pneumonia in 2018, and her body was discovered on the property. Real name Sean Combs, Diddy listed the property for sale three years after her death at a whopping $7million, $2million more than he paid for it in 2009. A sex worker living in Ofatedo, Osun State has reportedly developed strange illness by vomiting blood, after an encounter with some suspected ritualists in a hotel around West bypass, Osogbo. Some residents of Adetunji Estate, Osogbo, who spoke to reporters on Sunday explained that the victim, whose identity could not be immediately ascertained, was dumped by some unknown men at the entrance to the street late on Friday, almost unconscious. South African anti-apartheid icon, Desmond Tutu, died on Sunday aged 90. South Africa’s president, President Cyril Ramaphosa, announced the Archbishop’s death on Sunday.
