Osimhen Pulls Out Of AFCON As Napoli Threaten Legal Battle With Nigeria

  Super Eagles Striker, Victor Osimhen, yesterday, pulled out of the Cameroun 2022 African Cup of Nations to “allow the injury he copped during a Serie A game heal properly.” Osimhen, who was in Nigeria for the Christmas holidays, was reported to have tested positive to COVID-19, yesterday, the second time the former Wolfsburg striker would be afflicted by the ailment. Bartender Who Went Into Hiding After Stealing N600,000 Stabbed To Death By Peacemaker In Ogun State

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a 32-year-old female fashion designer, Omowumi Oyapitan, for allegedly killing a bartender, Muhammed Ahmed, 30. Ahmed reportedly stole N600,000 from his boss and went into hiding in a hotel with his friends. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, in a statement on Thursday, said the police discovered that the deceased used part of the stolen money to lodge some of his friends in the hotel, one of whom he later accused of stealing part of the money. The police spokesperson said the accusation led to a hot exchange of words between them. “Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, who had been in the hotel since Monday, December 27, 2021, was hiding tre after stealing the sum of N600,000 from his boss at Hayorlak Hotel, where he was working as a bartender. “It was further gathered that he used part of the stolen money to lodge some of his friends. Nigerian Nurse Jailed 3 Years For Sexually Abusing Patients In The US

A Nigerian health worker, Godbless Uwadiegwu, who pleaded guilty to sex crimes involving memory care patients in the United States has been sentenced to three years in prison. Uwadiegwu, 59, of Middletown, pleaded guilty to two counts of gross sexual imposition last month. He sexually assaulted two women at two different facilities in Warren County. On Tuesday, Judge Don Oda sentenced Uwadiegwu to the maximum prison sentence, 18 months on each conviction for a total of three years,  wlwt  reports. Victims and their families didn’t attend the sentencing hearing due to airline and COVID-19 issues, but a livestream was available for them to watch it remotely. In addition, victim advocate, Erika Bourelle, read letters on behalf of the victims and their families. One letter was written by one of the victims herself. “Some people may not remember, but I do. This happened on his first day in my building. I needed assistance after using the restroom and he came in to help me wipe,” she wrote.

NFF Finally Names Jose Peseiro As Super Eagles Coach

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), yesterday, ended the speculations on who becomes Super Eagles head coach when it named Portugal’s Jose Peseiro as the senior national team’s new manager. But the Federation announced that its technical director, Austin Eguavoen, who is currently Super Eagles interim coach, will lead the team to the Cameroun 2022 African Cup of Nations, with Peseiro joining the team to Cameroun as an observer. In a communiqué issued after its executive committee meeting, yesterday, the NFF also announced that Austin Eguavoen, who was previously appointed as interim coach of the Super Eagles, will now revert to his role as the Federation’s technical director. Siblings Seek Justice For 20-Year-Old Student Killed By Yahoo Boys

The family of Alexander Uzoma, a 20-year-old student killed by four suspected Internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys), has demanded justice for him. The elder brothers of the Business Administration student, who spoke to journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital on Wednesday, faulted a report by the police that the victim was killed after he went out to see a friend. They stated that Alexander, a fan of Manchester United, left home to watch a football match at a viewing centre around Adigbe, Abeokuta, when he went missing. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, had last week disclosed that the command arrested four suspects in connection with the death. There was panic in Imo State on Sunday after Uche Nwosu, the son-in-law to a former governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, was whisked away from a church service at his hometown, Eziama Obieri in the Nkwerre Local Government Area of the state. Nwosu and his family were at St Peter’s Anglican church for a thanksgiving service when the gunmen, who operated in an Armoured Personnel Carrier and Hilux vans, stormed the area. They shot indiscriminately before taking their target away, as his security operatives watched without resisting the gun-wielding persons. While some of Nwosu’s associates alleged that he was kidnapped, others alleged that his arrest was masterminded by the state governor, Hope Uzodinma.
