Engineer Shyngle Wigwe, the father of the late Access Bank CEO, Herbert Wigwe has broken his silence following allegations that he is contesting his son’s inheritance with his grandchildren.
He denied the claim.
Recall that late Wigwe alongside his wife and eldest son died in a fatal helicopter crash in the U.S. on the 9th of February, 2024.
There have been rumors of a possible battle for the control of his wealth and that his 90-year-old father is at the center of it all. The rumor mongers claimed that the Senior Wigwe is fighting with late Herbert's children for the wealth he left behind.
However, in a recent chat with NTA, Wigwe dismissed the claim, stating that at his age, he doesn’t need his enormous wealth.
‘’How can I want to claim Herbert's properties? Who is the best person to defend Herbert's properties? The father or a friend? The Father at 90 years? My grandchildren are there! Haba! I beg your pardon! How many more days have I got to live? So what will I do with Herbert's properties? I trained Herbert. I brought him up, not a single penny from anybody went in to bringing Herbert up? The mother is here.
What will I do with Herbert's wealth?" he asked
The bereaved father of the late banker revealed he suffered a stroke after the demise of his son.
He said he had a premonition that his son would pass away, while disclosing that he never approved of the gigantic mansion Herbert built in the Ikoyi area of Lagos state before he died.
‘’I got to to the new house. I was not happy. It is very ostentatious. I didn't like it one bit. I tried to caution him but it was too late. He started building that house and I knew nothing about it.‘’ he said.
